It has been a very long time since I've played this game. Qix (kiks) is one of those puzzles that will keep you playing for hours. I remember the NES version of the game that came out in 1993, and played it. If you like Qix (kiks) then I would highly recommend it.
Clever story variant on the Qix gameplay concept where the primary goal is to isolate/capture the planet instead of capturing a majority of the playfield. But capturing most of the screen and killing all on screen enemies is required to earn stars to unlock additional levels. Thus the game challenges you to earn coins to upgrade your ship (no longer a cursor as in the original) to outmaneuver turrets & fireballs and plasma. The QIX itself is, unfortunately, relegated to boss status only. Performing well ok levels earns stars to unlock sanctioned sections of the map. Once you get the hang of it, the gameplay can get addictive and fun... then it all comes to an end. The in-game characters and story add little to the gameplay, especially the ending. But the puzzle challenge of several of the levels is worth your time, if you're a fan of this Taito arcade classic.
Great game by a great studio!
This is a fun game! Never played the original Qix game, but have heard of it... Glad to know what it's all about now. I'm no gamer, so this simple style of game - almost like a puzzle - is appealing to me. I could easily play this all day instead of getting any work done! And I like the tutorials... I need that sort of thing. :)
The gameplay is similar to the original, with some power ups, challenges and different objectives to add variety to the oldschool gameplay. The graphics look quite nice as well, especially on an iPad.
