Description

Robert Kaufman Fabrics and Quilter's Paradise have joined forces to bring you a collection of eight essential quilting calculators.
With these calculators you'll be able to quickly convert between yards and inches, meters and centimeters; learn how much fabric you need for backing, batting and borders; and determine how many rectangular pieces can be cut from a larger piece. There are even calculators for square-in-a-square, set-in and corner triangles.
Here's a brief description of each calculator:
Fabric Measurement Converter: Converts between inches and yards in decimal form, and yards in fractional form. (With metric equivalents.)

Backing and Batting Calculator: Determines how much material from a bolt of fabric is needed to make the backing for a quilt.

Piece Count Calculator: Shows the number of fixed-sized pieces of fabric that can be cut from a larger piece.

Pieces to Area Calculator: Indicates how much fabric is needed in order to cut a given number of fixed-sized pieces.

Binding Calculator: Tells you the amount of fabric required to bind your quilt, based on the quilt’s dimensions and the binding strip width.
Border Calculator: Shows the amount of fabric required to create borders, based on a quilt’s dimensions and the width of the borders.
Square-in-a-Square Calculator: Works out the key dimensions of a square-in-a-square block.
Set-in and Corner Triangle Calculator: Determines the size of the square piece you’ll need to cut in order to create both unfinished set-in triangles and unfinished corner triangles.

Now you can only buy fabric. GREEDY CORPORATE AMERICA STRIKES AGAIN. Rest assured I will never buy your products again.

So helpful!

I accidentally stumbled upon this app. What a great find! I use the app for every quilt I make and have never had any problems with it. I have shared QuiltingCalc with everyone in my quilt group and it has saved us all a lot of time.

Changing my review

I use to love the app for the first few months the. Stopped using it. The math for fabric isn’t that difficult. I tried using it for projects and ended up buying three times as much as i needed for my project. I can easily do the math in my head and they sell real physical quilting calculators which are more accurate. Double check your math unless you want to buy a ton of scrap fabric. I am not that big into quilting so extra does me no good.

Wide-backing fabric

I have used this app gratefully for years. Unfortunately it does not seem to be updated for use with wide-backing fabric (108”). It would be really appreciated if you could update it.

Best I could find

This fabric calculator was with me for years. Then age and Covid changed my life. I deleted it. When I healed, I started to finish projects. I missed the ease it offered. When I started up quilting again, I looked everywhere for the app. I am back with it again and making a baby quilt. I need this tool infrequently, yet remember asking when would I ever need math? Luckily, this was made for me by calculating geeks. Thanks

Way to much

I used there calculations to buy fabric for my border. I ends up buys almost 3 yards too much. Way too much waste and expense to use this again!

Easy to use

I love this app and use it frequently when shopping for fabric. I also help other shoppers with their backing needs. One thing I would love to see would be a diagram on how to piece the fabric to get it to fit the quilt top.

A must have for quilters

It’s not the prettiest app. But I use it all the time to calculate fabric the amount of fabric or strips needed for backing, batting, and binding.

Great tool

This has been my go to quilting app. I have not been short fabric since I have been using it.
