Rail Europe Reviews

Same functionality as mobile website

Vixster99 on

United Kingdom

If you are tight on memory then just use the mobile version of the website, it’s exactly the same. The other thing to be aware of is that you can’t add passes like interrail so not as useful if planning for that. Back to using the desktop website which doesn’t work very well on a phone as elements like date selection appear off screen!

If 0 was possible

I bought two train tickets recently and both were cancelled. I then had to buy additional tickets due to not being offered any other trains to go on due to strikes. Sure, I got a refund eventually. A refund was exceedingly less than the cost of my new tickets. And before you ask, I called the Trainline and Emailed RE before arriving to this review.

New booking fee is too high

JC-a902ma0 on

United Kingdom

This has long been my go to app for train bookings - but the new booking fee £6.45 per journey is too much

Seat reservations?

Roseamh on

United Kingdom

It would be useful to actually be able to see your reserved seating numbers. I paid for seat reservations and the app says only “see ticket for seat and coach number” but extensive searching through the app, booking confirmation email and website has not revealed my seat reservation numbers. Hopefully the trains won’t be so full that I have to stand...

SCAM!!! Can’t exchange tickets or get refunds

Parker 92 on

United Kingdom

I live in the uk and I tried to cancel a ticket 48h before departure due to short notice COVID 19 restrictions and it was literally impossible to get through to a person, wether online, via email or telephone for refund or an exchange. There is no number to contact, no offices to go to. I emailed them countless times and I only got generic emails replies. The situation was left completely unresolved and I lost a lot of money. Will never buy from rail Europe again. Deleted the App.

Rubbish app.

First search recognised the word Alicante, no subsequent search has.

Inflated savings. Clunky app.

ntahall on

Higher than the difference with the non-split fare even without the £1.50 booking fee. Noticed when TrainLine introduces split fares and theirs are correct. Now TrainLine is much cheaper too with reasonable fees, smooth app and Apple Wallet.

Never ask for a refund!!

newlywelsh on

United Kingdom

Really pleased with this company until I had to return tickets under their refund policy. I was charged an admin fee of £10, plus the cost of recorded delivery to return the tickets. Despite endless emails, after 8weeks I’m still waiting for a refund, despite my account showing my money has been refunded. Hugely disappointed

Useless

mpofu2 on

United Kingdom

This site doesn’t show my account . I bought a tickect and couldn’t change the dates in this sites and can’t call after office hours

Too little information

Rico Smith on

United Kingdom

The app doesn’t give you information regarding which platform to get the train on. It doesn’t allow you to save your tickets to Apple Wallet and it doesn’t allow you to share your fellow passengers’ tickets with them. You can buy tickets fine with it, but if there are alternatives I’d use it.
