Railboard - National Rail

Having used different company apps and the national rail app this one is by far the best for usability and accurate info. 5 stars

Useful for planning and tracking but will not use for transaction due to a false journey which I was charged for.

After many frustrations with GWR and Trainline, and after the horrendous redesign (and slowness) of the National Rail app, I’m so glad I found Railboard. It opens on the planner, is fast, integrates properly with Apple Wallet where the tickets gracefully expire when they should. This keeps Wallet clutter free (unlike GWR’s app). I read a bit about Railboard and discovered that the founder created it as a commuter himself - and you can tell. Give this app a try.

Amazing app, surprised most people I speak to haven’t heard of it. Wipes the floor with all the official apps, chock full of very useful features. Incredibly easy to use, incredibly reliable. Love it. Also it’s free?!

I found this app after National Rail destroyed theirs and I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without using it. The level of customisation of routes etc is unparalleled. Can’t really fault it expect for saying it takes a little bit of time to fully grasp how everything works but that’s because you have so many options. Once you get your head around it, it’s a breeze. Love it, keep up the fantastic work!

Update 08/12/2024: having used this for a few days now, I’m really impressed. My issue regarding the platform numbers sorted itself the day or so after when they started appearing. I have received a response from the developers which stated the platform numbers are always shown if provided by the rail company. The app is now my go to for rail travel and I far prefer it to the Network Rail app. Only just using this after being recommended by train crew. This is very clear and quick and works well. The only thing that will stop me using this as my go to app is the lack of platform numbers which is really useful for me when trains are running late to allow me to run to the correct platform.

This is an excellent app to track train times. The user interface is clear and intuitive. I like that I can save my favourite journeys for easy access.

The recent disastrous update to the National Rail app left me searching for alternatives. Railboard is everything that app should have been, and more. Easy to use, works flawlessly, looks great. THANK YOU from a long suffering commuter.

I feel so stupid persisting with the National Rail app for two months after they ruined it in mid September…the final straw was an update that meant (in my experience) clicking on the ‘journey details’ button got you fare details and no way to find where and when I was to change trains. I downloaded Railboard while on a train a few days ago and I’m relieved that it’s intuitive, has an attractive interface and has features that the original NR app used to have until they changed it…features so obviously needed by people that use trains everyday or even occasionally…..favourite stations (instead of relying solely on an ever changing recent search option), the ability to see earlier trains on the live departures board which is useful when finding out what’s happening to the train you are on and gives useful insight during service disruption…as does showing cancelled trains on the live departures board. Finding train information has been made easy and hassle free thanks to Railboard
