RailChecker Reviews

Nice idea and confident app but doesn’t work properly

Loads of ads. Only one subscription option, no option to buy the app outright or annual. If it can’t find services it doesn’t report back why like strike action, etc. this leaves you with a sense the app is not working properly. Would be useful if the ads were limited to a single place. Ads that get in the way of functionality get deleted quickly. Elements like “show calling points” why not display the calling time next to each stop rather than make the user clock through the extra step. This page could simply be loaded into the drop down. App doesn’t preload any data into list views. It pulls the data in realtime so this will delay and cause delays over cellular networks. As soon as you type the stations it should begin to preload. The app is also not stateful so doesn’t remember the times when you go back. The fact it links the displays pages together indicates this should happen but doesn’t. Pinning a journey simply doesn’t always happen either which is infuriating when you have to keep adding the date and time back in. Sloppy coding.
