Ramblers FAQ

Good routes, why deadly slow launch? why no feedback or notes?
I have used this app only once and had a fantastic walk in Essex with it. (Update: three times, and three good walks.) However, it is very strange that almost every time you open it, you have to wait most of a minute while it does things like “updating group walks”. If I am just following a route I don’t need that, but it does not seem possible to turn it off. If you are on an unfamiliar route so that you have to check the directions frequently, this app is frustrating to use.
Update: this problem is much worse when you have only one bar of signal .. which happens often when you are the countryside (eg rambling). My solution is that before starting the walk, I take a screenshot of each page of the instructions (usually 4-9 pages). Then I only need to look in my photos, and not wait for this app’s slow launch.
Also, there seems to be no way to submit errors (on the walk I did today, the hyperlink for the starting point sent me to a different location in google maps, 4.3 miles from the correct place). Fortunately I knew this was wrong.
Also, too bad there is no way to record one’s own notes for a walk so that if you look at it some time later you can review your impressions etc from the first time.
Error codes
Keeps crashing/ constant error codes/ can’t log in.

What happened : (
OMG I have really enjoyed the app and used it to follow routes regularly. Now they all seem to have disappeared. However I try to look for routes near me, I get ‘none found’. Gutted.
Poor compared to website
Map just doesn’t work. Type in a postcode to look for walks and nothing happens. Just shows where you are now.
Ramblers App
It seems to have changed recently. The ability to list walks in area/group has gone which means that the only option is to try and pick it off the map, not so easy. Also, walks disappear before the register can be completed. Suggestion- restore the list option and leave walks listed for longer, say 5 days after the event. Thanks
Great Walking App
The new app is the best ever, I like the new filter, it now allows you to search all walks in an area (previously it only showed a subset close to you, so you had to repeat search to cover an area). Now you can search an area that you want to walk and focus in as necessary.
One suggestion is - I have gone to a walk and looked at the app to confirm contacts, meet-up location etc, and everything for that day has already been removed. Please don't remove details until at least 12am, so we do have time to recheck the details.
App not reflecting my Group request
I have downloaded the app and selected my group but this doesn’t show in the app.
I have waited for over a week but still not updated.
I now can’t search for my groups walks so have reverted back to Ramblers Web page.
