■ This app is based on the Rancho Observational Gait Analysis System, a well-known method for teaching physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, students, and other health care professionals a systematic approach to first analyzing normal gait and pathologic gait.
■ The RanchoGait app is the first of a series of modules to provide instruction on how to evaluate both normal and pathologic gait with the final app in the series aimed at prescription of lower extremity orthoses which was developed at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center for individuals with neurologic impairments.
■ The first module in the series for RanchoGait app is intended to be a useful tool for students and clinicians to learn and/or review the fundamental elements of Normal Gait and the Problem-Solving Approach in an interactive manner. The second app is intended to be a useful tool for students and clinicians to learn and/or review the critical elements of Pathologic Gait. The last two modules integrated the Rancho R.O.A.D.M.A.P. and MOPS brace adjustment module to the existing Rancho Gait App. User can access the Modules through In-app purchase.
■ The RanchoGait app allows the user to be an active participant in learning the essential elements of Normal and Pathologic Gait and engages critical thinking in the learning process.
■ The RanchoGait app can be used as a stand-alone learning aid or in conjunction with an in-person course as a supplement to principles presented in a lecture-based format. It can also be used in conjunction with the process of orthotic prescription.
■ The RanchoGait app contains the highlights and essential elements of Normal Gait, including Phases, Functional Tasks, Task Accomplishments, and Critical Events.
■ User Manual - To use the RanchoGait app, the user simply taps on module menu items and the element of interest, including Gait Cycle, Phases, Functional Tasks, Critical Events, etc. An interactive player allows the user to view a video clip that describes the highlights and essential elements of the gait cycle and other sub-categories. The user can interact with the available choices for playing the phases and sub-categories of Normal Gait. In the R.O.A.D.M.A.P. module, the user interact with the available choices for identifying the most appropriate type and setting of lower extremity brace. In the Brace module, the user can interact with the available choices for selecting the proper steps for setting the highly adjustable lower extremity orthosis called MOPS Brace.

Very expensive

It would be very useful if it was not so expensive…..Some sections can be as much as $29.99!

Terrible app that took my money

Volume doesn’t work. The app may be free but the only thing that is free is the gait cycle, which you can watch for free on YouTube. I bought the pathological gait pack for $25 and it doesn’t work. At all. Apple won’t refund my money so save yourself the hassle, don’t even bother downloading this app. Try physioU instead.

Help with the sound

The sound is not working on the in app purchases video for the Gait Phases. Help to get the sound back.

expensive

I was excited when I found this app. As a DPT student it would have been useful. Unfortunately it is to expensive. You could spend upwards of 70 dollars when other apps provide similar information for much less.

Video quality

The videos are freezing and don’t have any commentary.

Help with sound!

Help please! I appreciate the slow motion breakdown of the phases of the gait cycle, but there is no volume with any of the videos. This makes the critical events add-on useless.

Scam

This app is a scam. It has no interactive features. Two years after they promised to add the path gait function it is still not here and that button is not functional. This app is made by USC but seems as if it was made in someone's basement in 15 minutes.

Great app

This is a great app as I am a PT student. When are the pathological gait and Roadmap pieces going to be available to use? I would give five stars if all pieces were available to use within the app.

A must have app for any PT!

Rancho sets the standard for gait research and rehabilitation and this app sets the standard for gait apps. Great video descriptions of walking mechanics and easy to understand explanations of how normal walking works. I will use this all the time in my clinical practice. The in app purchase options are a bargain. I can't wait for the other modules to go live.
