Reading Therapy Reviews

Good for classroom as well

I've used this in my classroom for students with autism. One of the things I like best about the app is phrase matching, where students match a photo to the words describing it. This is great for working on reading comprehension with my students. I especially like that some of the words are similar so students really have to descriminate, such as if it's a "slippery snake" or a "sugary snake", or choosing the correct color as well as the item. I'd love to have a simpler option where "snake" was the answer, for students who don't read as many words yet. Love that one of the categories is body parts! I see a lot of potential with the fact that you can add your own categories and photos to work on custom vocabulary. It would be great if you could access the photos already in the application for this, so that you didn't need to take a photo of each item you wanted to add in order to use a custom list, but I love that you can set up your own list. Another "wish for" item would be the option to have the data tell me which items a student missed, rather than just percentage of accuracy, but these are just wish items that would make a great app even better.

Very helpful

This is a very helpful app for patients to use during a therapy session or on their own. Many of the patients I work with have reading issues and this app is very helpful. It is so nice not having to carry around multiple photocopies. The app will work for children or adults. The app is multifunctional without being visually distracting. The therappy set of apps are excellent and the ones I use most often. I have also had many patients buy this app.

I am fairly new to this app however have been using it with my adult CVA patients. They have responded well to the activities and it's great that the complexity can be adjusted from easy to hard. The different levels beginning with pic ID with phrases and sentences is great for the variety of patients. There are so many functional categories to choose from. I love this app and use it multiple times every day! Thanks for this great app!

Really was looking fwd to this app!!! Sat down and had my daughter working on it! Love it. HOWEVER, wish there was some option for the words/sentences to be read outloud...if that were the case, it'd be 5 stars for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --update--- IF you are using this for a child...in "settings" there is a child friendly setting to turn on!!! Still hoping for the "read along with" option ;)

Advancing from speaking single words to phrases and sentences

Rick rocket on

The NamingApp and the ReadingApp have similar user interfaces which is great. For my wife suffering from aphasia and apraxia, it was a natural step to use the ReadingApp to move from saying single words to saying phrases and complete sentences. The ReadingApp has options of phrase matching and completion and sentence matching and completion. My wife likes to use the sentence completion feature and then speak the completed sentence. Unlike the NamingApp, the ReadingApp does not have the facility to speak the completed sentence so I or someone else has to work with her. It would be great if Tactus added this or created another app that speaks sentences.
