Description

Record your very own 3D Videos using the selfie *FaceID* camera or the *LiDAR* sensor! Export them into FBX, glTF, sequence of PLY files, OBJ or Alembic. Use WebRTC Wi-Fi Streaming, export into RGBD mp4 videos.
Export 3D videos into the Spatial Video format (only on iOS 17 or newer) or into SBS (Side-by-Side) stereo videos.
Show your Volumetric Videos in AR and experience the **True3D effect**: turn your iPhone or iPad into a window through which you can see into the world behind your screen, where your 3D Videos live! True3D is activated by pressing the "3D" button in the vertical toolbar. Be sure to be in portrait orientation to activate True3D.
Are you a Digital Artist or a Developer? Then there is something for you too. You can stream RGBD video from your device into your computer via USB cable. Just install C++ or Python library and you are good to go. The C++ and Python libraries are open source — therefore there is no need to be worried about privacy (as you can easily verify for yourself).
You can also buy the Wi-Fi Streaming & RGBD Video export Extension Pack and stream 3D Videos (with color-coded depth data) via Wi-Fi using WebRTC — that means you can stream 3D Videos even into a web browser! Note that Wi-Fi Streaming works ONLY over your local network (LAN), NOT over the Internet. Wi-Fi Streaming delivers lower quality depth data compared to USB streaming, because it leverages lossy compression. For more details about Wi-Fi Streaming, visit https://record3d.app
Note that the Unity USB Streaming demo is currently not compatible with the Wi-Fi Streaming feature. Wi-Fi Streaming uses a completely different technology, so you will need to rewrite the Unity demo to work with Wi-Fi Streaming.
With that same Extension Pack, you can encode (export) 3D Videos into RGBD mp4 videos, which can be used for example for viewing your 3D Videos in a Looking Glass holographic display. If you are an artist or a developer, you can use the mp4 RGBD videos for offline 3D Video visualisation.
Speaking of privacy, Record3D does not track you, does not contain any analytics, ads nor any other invasive things. Everything you do in the app stays on the device, is completely yours and not shared with any third parties. The Wi-Fi Streaming feature works only on your local network (LAN), it does NOT work over the Internet.
The app offers you 3 free 3D Videos so that you can evaluate some of its functionality before purchasing.

Record3D Reviews

App now needs a Vision Pro viewer

Always struggled finding a good workflow to do something useful with output of app. It would be great if I could view what I record on Vision Pro or Meta Quest headsets with dedicated viewer.

AI to fill in gaps would be awesome

Any interest in Apple Vision Pro?

优秀的软件!

从11就开始用了,这个软件不同于建模软件,他是将空间信息,色彩信息和声音捕捉后,展现为视频。软件自己的AR模式还会根据外部环境调整明暗。非常推荐!

Really Awesome app but restore purchase is broken

Long time user 4473628 on

I have three vids I recorded in August 2022 that playback in full color. It was great to mess around with animated point clouds this way. I recently reinstalled the app (May 2023) to use it again and I used to be able to record LiDAR but now the app won’t allow it. [edit] The responsiveness and generosity of the app maker have been stellar. $5 is cheaper than a coffee at Starbucks. Although I had already purchased I think this app is worth buying for diy volumetric capture, especially if the developer keeps improving the app and hopefully introduces machine learning to fill in the gaps. Thanks Marek ☕️

export in png format

Hi,nice work。Is it possible to make the image sequence exported in r3d format png Instead of jpg? Can you add this feature in the future release?

Cool for night

This app is great for night vision, like not being able to see in pitch dark and using this app gives you an idea of the objects around you.

Awesome app and great idea but…

Wow that is Error 1847 on

United States

There’s a bug that doesn’t let you scan more once you deleted all videos or you uninstall and reinstall the app.

Broke my phone

HSBEIDFBSODUFBDODH on

When I opened the app it shut my phone down and whenever it came back on it would shut down again and not stop, I would have payed a WHOLE lot of money if I couldn’t get back but I had to press a button VERY quick and it stopped. Do not get this. If I had an older version of a phone and it DIDNT have that exact button my phone would have broken and there would have been no way to fix it.

Parts of it work, but the parts I need do not.

I'll echo what's already been written about the non-intuitive interface and the swipe system to export that can delete your captures accidentally. But the kicker is the lack of ANY usable geometry output. I'm a 3D graphics professional by trade. I attempted to import all of this app's export formats using 3DS Max, Houdini, Modo, Marmoset, and sketchfab. But my only success was getting the Alembic file to open in Max, where I got an OUTLINE OF THE ALEMBIC LOGO... and nothing else. Maybe the .R3D format would work, but NOTHING I've found opens/converts R3D files of the size this app puts out, and Realsoft 3D is so outdated that the latest version was written for Windows 7! The author says he doesn't know how to save out animated meshes. Well how about a numbered series of .OBJ files with similarly numbered textures? I could write a script to load those up in a few minutes.

Cool ideas - Issues with app

Issue 1: Bought full version but still locked out of exporting RGBD. Brings up modal but doesn’t “restore”. Happy to support but yea, need my features please. $$$ Issue 2: One of the options resulted in an attempted export of 1.3gb made of 3 files? I had “generate normals” on but this seems excessive and I’m confused given it was a 7 second video. Issue 3: I have no idea what each of the options are for the icons when in the playback view. Except the AR icon of course. Issue 4: No USDz export option? AR view is available but need that to be shareable. Should be possible since GLTF is there. Issue 5: Library full of preview images that are gray. Hard to tell what I’m looking at sometimes Issue 6: The pull right menu in the library view is a little finicky. At risk of accidentally deleting. Needs a better menu for actions. Issue 7: Cant rotate AR preview around. Happy to continue with feedback. I’m building an AR marketplace for scans and interactive content.
