I love my Bullseye without reservation, but they have ruined this app. First, the app no longer maintains a connection to your grill. So every time you grab your phone to check the grill or probe temperature, it shows your grill as “Off” and there’s an unnecessarily lengthy delay, while it finds your grill and reconnects. If you switch to another app or you just set your phone down, it completely disconnects from the grill and doesn’t even cache the data. Second, it no longer allows you turn your grill on from the app. You have to go out and hit the power button. It’s a minor inconvenience, but that was a feature that used to set Recteq apart, and it’s been removed most likely to make some lawyers happy. It certainly wasn’t for the customer.

I used to love the RecTec app until they removed the remote on option. While I understand that there are people who do not understand those of us that do should not be penalized

Have absolutely loved my Recteq, but the removal of remote start is a total bait-and-switch move. One of the key features I’ve used: prepare my grill, go to the store or church, start the grill on my way home so it’s preheated and ready to go. Now, I have to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for it to preheat just because I have to push the physical button. It’s madness. One seriously been a huge fan: bought every accessory, wear the tshirt and hat, and was considering expanding my Recteq fleet to the flat top. But now I sadly have to reconsider because the lack of remote start is a MAJOR convenience and feature loss. Add on top of this, when I open the app, my grill no longer appears immediately. I have to navigate around, pretend to add another grill, and some random sequence will eventually cause it to appear. I have a strong WiFi signal and the network hasn’t changed. It used to work fine. Sadly, the regressions of the app are ruining the product and brand. I don’t think I can recommend Recteq to friends any longer. It’s such a simple thing to fix to restore confidence, but unfortunately, you’ve lost a loyal customer.

Industry standard???? Whatever… The people love the remote start. Sounds like you guys are a bunch of sleepy Biden voters that do what you want to line your pockets and don’t care about your base supporters and their needs and beliefs. May as well look for a Chinese made crack smoker to make Hunter happy. Hopefully one day recteq will be great again!!!

They disabled the remote start. That’s what made the app good! The people don’t care about “industry standard!” We want a brand that stands out. What a poor choice to roll over. Next go-round, I doubt I’ll stick with RT.

We have had our RT340 for a few years now and always loved the wifi feature. When our wifi company updated our system for faster speed for streaming, we could not get the wifi feature to work anymore. Rectec’s customer service was wonderful in trying to work it out for us. It turns out we needed the updated controller. They didn’t try to sell me one but I asked about it because i was sure I wasn’t the only one with this problem. It was going to be a couple of hundred dollars and we decided it would be worth it because I love being able to monitor the probes when we are smoking meat. The person I was talking to said she would call me back, which she did. She sold it to us for half the normal price. I was really grateful. The controller came about a week later and my husband was able to install it. I was so grateful when I went out and was able to hook our phones to it right away. Thank you for the customer service that I’m not used to seeing anymore. I loved being able to talk to a person. We love the grill.

I’m a long time fan of Reqtec grills. However, the recent update to the app kills the best feature. I understand that it’s a safety feature but it really doesn’t make it any safer. The biggest issue with Reqtec grills is that they can take 30 minutes or more to heat up. I would routinely remote start it when I left work so it was ready to cook on when I got home. Now that the remote start is disabled I can’t do that anymore. So I hardly ever use it during the week because it takes too long. I may just get a different brand but I am waiting on a fix or a work around.

Bring back back the power on option to the app!

There’s literally no point to this app any longer. If you close your phone for ANY REASON, it loses connection to the smoker, and you have to REINITIALIZE the whole silly thing. Which means you can’t keep an eye on the cook anymore, which means this app is entirely pointless.
