Relic Waves is a generator of Lo-Fi noises, pads and effects based on unique synthesis algorithms from NightRadio.
More than 4 billion samples from the depths of the Mathematical Universe!
Features:
* search for new sounds with three buttons: next random set, edit code, previous set; each set of 12 sounds corresponds to a code of 8 characters;
* three types of keyboards for live performing: on-screen buttons, PC keyboard, MIDI input;
* several processing parameters + control via MIDI;
* real-time audio recording to WAV (32-bit);
* export to: WAV (one file or a set), SunVox (samples + effects in one file), text clipboard;
* the LCK button freezes individual samples - they will not change during the search for new sets;
* iOS Audio Unit Extension (AUv3).
Double clicking on a parameter opens a window for setting the exact value.
If you enable the Hold option, the notes will play endlessly, without reacting to key release (noteOff) events; turning the note on again works like turning it off; there are two ways to enable this option:
1) using the Hold parameter in the "MIDI Mapping" window;
2) by pressing the HOLD button, which appears in place of LCK while playing the musical keyboard: press HOLD, release the desired notes - then the released notes will continue to play.

Relic Waves FAQ
Is Relic Waves free?
Relic Waves is not free (it costs 1.99), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Relic Waves legit?
Not enough reviews to make a reliable assessment. The app needs more user feedback.
I have found this app to be amazing sounding and very easy to use. I would love to see an update with all the reclic apps to be able to save directly to a Wav. file on all devices into a folder. Would make this a much a more useful app. Thanks for all the amazing work you do Alexander.
Sound designer’s wet dream
This thing is amazing. I guess you can use it as an instrument… but i suggest you not be lazy and export the samples and load them into a capable sampler, you’ll be happy you did. Some of the noise samples are really really really good for making hihats and cymbals, I can’t believe I’m even giving away this tip for free but there ya go. yes a lot of these sounds are definitely usable on thier own, but really shine when you start pitching, filtering and layering them, you could maybe bring a synth along for the fun and use the samples to augment your synth sound and vice versa. For instance, a lot of the noise samples have a pitched component, that’s just begging to be layered up with a synth pad or some other samples youve gotten from this. On iOS you have the sampler from VirSyn (sorry I forget the name) and there might be others capable of getting complex but I don’t know them if so, theres too many to name on pc but I usually use either the Renoise sampler or SunVox or Bitwig’s sampler/grid. If you’re lucky enough to have one i suggest using a soundblaster live sound card in a seperate computer as a hardware sampler so you can use the analog filters, and you can get VERY complex with it Vienna lets you layer/split and nest in any want and you can use all 132 channels if you want! It’s only limited by your skills as a sound designer at that point, if you use these samples alongside some PADSynth samples I promise you you’ll make the most mindlowing pads and atmospheres you ever heard.
really great for random inspirations
im constantly surprised by the usable results i get from this one. a must have for anyone working in drone or ambient music and beyond. would reall love to be able to change the volume of individual slots: maybe hold tap a slot with one finger then adjust the volume parameter with another finger? also really with the same for transporting individual slots. you can do it then sustain (hold) that slot but then the transpose is reset if you reload the app.. hope we can see some features like that down the road! otherwise this app is amazing!
Most innovative music software dev on the App Store
Alex Zolotov continues to make the oddest and yet most interesting apps on the market. This one is no different. If you like unique sounds in a weird interface and a crazy deep music ecosystem, this is as good a place to start as any.
So Cool, I Love It!
This is exactly what I was hoping for, throw it on a track in Drambo and sequence away. A million random blip, bloops and hdv7$3omfo*xh+3gdu at your fingertips!
Another app I will be using daily
I use sunvox and PixiTracker most days, but I use fractal bits daily. Relic waves is great in every way that fractal bits is. All I can say is “more please.” I will probably be using relic waves daily. I would love to see more apps like this one. Keep making them and I’ll keep buying them.
Another winner from AZ!
If you’re into something different this is it!
Do not hesitate
If you are at all intrigued by noise/ ring mod synth sounds and more experimental sonic territory, this is an embarrassment of riches that will satisfy the most demanding explorer. All for under $2 . Best deal on IOS for sound searchers that want a gratifying fun factor that isn’t yet another groove box or reverb/ delay etc.
Gonna be another home run!
I cant rave enough about fractal bits and this is gonna be a great companion imho, just my quick observation in just playing with this for a minute! Thanks 🙏
