Does not synchronize with other devices on iCloud

I have been using Reunion on my Mac since around 1994. it contains the data expertly, and I'm full of gratitude that it has kept my data intact for nearly 30 years The Mac version is totally un-Maclike. I don't think the designers ever looked at Mac user interface guidelines. Same is true for Version 1.0.19 for iOS: version; they don't take advantage of any of the user interface genius of the iPhone. It works, and I'm glad to have it available on my iPhone. Dealbreaker: when I added a note to a person's record on my iPad and added a photo, those changes did not sync back to my iPhone even after restarting both devices. Dear Product Manager, please ask Apple for help. You need it. ... Now I understand when it says "Family files on this device". I mistakenly thought that it would have a link back to iCloud. My mistake. And I see that it says "Download a family file from iCloud Drive" They never promised to synchronize my file. Why not? That's the whole point of iCloud. So I deleted the app from my iPhone, because it is dangerous to have two separate files on two separate devices being updated, and they know that. I take responsibility for my mistake in understanding how it works. But they should make it more clear. They should make it clear that if I use Dropbox, either it will sync, or it will be the same problem: downloading and not synchronizing.

Disappointing

I like the Reunion app, but I am totally disappointed with the fact that I have to pay for expensive updates to get very little value from them. In particular, why do I have to keep using Dropbox to sync after all these years later? It is totally disappointing that Reunion can’t move forward, I love my past but I like to use apps that keep up with my current life. Please!!! I would like to sync this app like the rest of my apps.

Ridiculous to require Dropbox!

I had been happily using Reunion for years, easily syncing computer and iPad weekly. Then Dropbox entered the picture. Ridiculous to pay over $100 a year in addition to the one-time cost of Reunion. (Free Dropbox account is unusable since it has a 3-device limit.) MacFamilyTree is harder to use but I’m trying to learn it. Cloud sync makes it the winner.

Needs more syncing options

What is wrong with this company that they force a user to use Dropbox, and not iCloud? There is no excuse for this! I do not understand how a company that has always been an Mac/iOS company refuses to support iCloud syncing. I don’t want Dropbox installed on anything I own, yet I’m forced to in order to use an otherwise great app (MAC and iOS.) Another update, and still no iCloud support! Still no iCloud support! It’s been a year since I wrote my initial review. The app gets updated and yet still no iCloud support. I had reluctantly installed Dropbox just for syncing my file from my Mac. After recently discovering the dirty tricks that Dropbox in doing on the Mac , I deleted it completely from all of my devices. So now I have a useless app since the developer will not support other syncing or manually transferring your files.

Cannot switch Family trees

Long-time Reunion user. User interface needs to be made more intuitive. Otherwise, the app seems to work fine.

Adds a whole new dimension to genealogy research and access!

I love this app! Since I was an early adapter to Apple and have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years, I started using Reunion right from the beginning. Having the versatility to bring my tree everywhere I go AND UPDATE IT, is huge! Honestly, I access it at least a couple of times a week when I’m out and about and run into someone with a familiar name or connection. I just updated to Reunion 12 and am having some issues relinking to the newer file, but I have every confidence in the Leister company to help me through as they have for decades. Thank you to them for always being ahead of the game and for keeping up with this amazing tool.

Has worked for me as advertised.

Is it Dropbox?

It appears that users either love this app or hate it. I am one of the lovers. First you have to understand that this app is for viewing a Reunion tree, not for creating one. Second, it has to be synched thru Dropbox. I suspect that at least some of the haters are experiencing problems not with the app but with setting up Dropbox. Setting up Dropbox is not the easiest thing in the world if you haven’t done it before. (I find it easier than iCloud.) Maybe those who are having problems would do better to talk to Dropbox Support instead of Reunion.

Never worked

I had the old app that I had to sync between my devices and two devices. All MAC products. Loved that app and used all the time. But with last reunion update for my Mac Pro I purchased, Reunion started promoting this app with drop box. Set everything up. Tried to upload files to this app and all it does is spin. Had a tech in. Everything checked and still will not upload. Contacted the company with all of the information on my computer and devices and the problem. Told me I did not have enough info and asked for the very info that was in the email. So said forget it, and continued to use the old product until they decided not to support it. I am very unhappy that I paid just under $5 for the first app and a whooping $15 for this garbage that never worked and now I have neither. It was convenient while it lasted, but leister is totally unhelpful and dismissive.
