I have downloaded this game multiple times because it has glitches. I had high games between 8 and 9 million points. But since then the game times out right around 4 million points. The keys stop working and a screen pops up that says ‘couldn’t load the saved game’ and ‘Oh no! The save file did not contain a valid mahjong game.’ ‘Try starting a new game instead.’
I don’t want to keep starting over! Kinda lousy.
A beautiful app.
The computer players have a good level of challenge, the tutorial is well-written, the online multiplayer doesn’t have any active games yet but as the app becomes more popular that will change.
bad
this used to be a good app but the powers don't work anymore and there is a bug with it telling you you are in furi ten when you're not
Great and true to form
I was introduced to mahjong through the Yakuza games, and have been hooked since. My only complaint is that they don’t have the markers for Riichi after it’s been called by anyone, but other than that, it’s an absolute comfort game with a bit of risk and a lot of complexity that anyone into intuitive gambling games could appreciate.
It works but…
It’s a bit jank. Too much focus on silly things like table flipping and not enough on UX. My biggest issue is it’s too hard to see tiles, they are too small on the screen and when you zoom, it doesn’t stay zoomed in. Permanent camera control would improve my rating significantly. I do like some things like how setup is shown, double tap to select tile, and the transparent scoring. Ups and downs, i bet this could rival PC/web clients if it it was a bit more focused on usability.
True to Japan
I’ve played dozens of times in Japan but this was the first app that helped me learn some of the things that had always been lost in translation because as you probably know much of the words are Chinese, even in Japan, so they have a hard time explaining why they score things the way they do. Anyway, just about my favorite app ever.
Goof game
I ron :D
Perfect Riichi style Mahjong game
This game has everything. The models are well made, awesome animations, table flipping, a sleezy 90’s esque sound track. It’s everything I could’ve asked for a mobile Japanese Style Mahjong game
great buuuuuut
Great app, but had problems declaring hands furiten (ex: discarding 6 bamboo early then eventually collecting 7 and 8 and being unable to ron on 9 bamboo despite riichi), as well as not counting a 13 orphans hand as tenpai when only needing a white dragon (with one left not show , not even a dead hand that would be tenpai but unwinnable).
The best in the west
I found Richii Mahjong from Akagi. This app is how I learned the game while also getting to understand the hype of Akagi! I have had this app for over two years now and the fact the dev is still updating ever now then is great aslo. Online play is great if you get some friends to play; otherwise not really anyone there.
TLDR: Great for learning the game and offline play. Online; you better have friends or people to play other wise no one as of yet.
