I tested the app on my entire rock collection that I’ve had for years. It only was accurate half of the time. The other stones identified as: “a piece of pastry or cake”, “a piece of metal”, “a piece of charcoal”, “a piece of pottery.” And so on. The AI isn’t so smart. Too bad.
Your app cannot identify the rocks I’ve shown it. Serpentine. Agate. Feldspar….it doesn’t even know FLINT.
Wow how informative. I took a picture of a pink granite rock and it told me that it was not a rock or a mineral. This app needs some serious work. If it does manage to identify a rock it give no information beyond “this is a rock” and a name. No information about type of rock, origin, make up or if it is rare or widespread. Paid for a year. Sigh.
Doesn’t seem to matter what rock or mineral I scan it does not seem to identify it. I’ve only had it identify one rock and that was one in my garden that was granite. I don’t know if I just am taking the pictures incorrectly or what but I definitely can’t get it to work. I feel like I wasted my money and I was so excited to identify all the rocks that I brought back from Arizona. So disappointing!
Best rock scan app for learning
Best rock-scan application I have used definitely recommend
The app is well designed and easy to use. The best rock scanning app I have ever used.
I like hiking and I deal with rocks often. This app helps me understand all kinds of Rocks!!!
I took a picture and it just said “failed to connect”. I didn’t expect much due to this app having zero in app purchases and being completely free, but this is truly lousy and unacceptable.
