Somewhat of a low rating: Not because it is a bad app or the courses are not any good (they are very nice), but there’s a problem that makes using the audio sections in the app almost unusable: When listening to the audio podcast in the app, the audio controls are at the very bottom of the screen on an iPhone (iPhone 11 in my case). The ‘progress bar’/pointer that you can use to rewind/skip through the audio is not usable because that part of the screen is used for the iPhone controls (closing apps, task switching). Therefore I cannot do anything other that listen to the entire audio section in one go. I can’t properly go back a few seconds or a minute when I want to hear something again. I believe this must be fixed. I am now on a trial, and won’t be buying Rocket Language if this issue remains in the app.
It seems to cut off the first word - or parts of the first word- it says when it is speaking and misunderstands what I am saying by not catching the beginning of the words I say. Besides that, I love that it tells me WHY… for EVERYTHING! I always ask the “why’s”. I hope this will assist me with understanding more.
I don’t think learning a second language is easy for most people without total immersion. Out of nowhere comes the phrase “Ma allora lei desidera un caffe americano”. What!?!? New words, allora and desidera, with no instruction.
In its variety of drills and exercises, Rocket is perhaps the most comprehensive of all language learning apps. It adopts (and puts into practice) the adage, “Many roads lead to Rome.” In other words, it’s not dogmatic in its pedagogy but rather recognizes that language is best learned and acquired through multiple approaches. Moreover, Rocket doesn’t rest on its laurels but rather continues to develop the app — and its latest redesign is a case in point. It’s an excellent step forward and is not only cosmetic but will help the user navigate the app more effectively and naturally. Kudos! Of course, there is always more that can be done, and improvements and additions to be made, but for those who can afford to choose only a single app as a language learning guide, they could do no better than to choose this one. One suggestion if I may — even if one I’m sure you have heard many times. It would be great if we could (at least in some cases or certain points) play back the audio we submit for pronunciation analysis and then we could compare it side-by-side with the native speakers you furnish. I suppose this would require more server-side development (or could this be done on-device?). But it would be handy as a guide for us to improve our speech.
I liked learning sign with this app, but it’s definitely just beginner level! Could you please add more Advanced content then I would rate it 5 stars!
The new release looks cool at first but it's all white with no option to change to dark mode as of June 2024. It's not ideal and a major downgrade compared to the old version, which at least didn't have a 100 percent white background.
I just want to say that the new UX that they rolled out is so awesome! The app feels so much fresher now😎
Rocket is really the only course I have used that is serious about making a person as close to fluent as possible. Is it a blast to use? Not always. But this is the problem with most courses. They tell you they are going to be super fun and get you to fluency… Not realistic. Rocket gives you all the tools you need. It’s sometimes boring and sometimes monotonous, but it has worked for me better than any other program. It is a financial commitment though so ask yourself how serious you are about learning a language. If not that serious, Duolingo is fun, but have you ever actually met a person who became fluent with Duolingo?
Are the apps that I used to help the Korean and quickly lost focus, lost interest with this app. Definitely keeps me motivated. It’s so interactive that I want to keep going. I absolutely love it.
