Description

Do you know where Keats died? Did you know that they covered the cobble-stones with hay to decrease noise from passing carriages? Do you know the spot where Julius Cesar was brutally stabbed to death by his own senators? Do you know where the Coliseum’s recycled marble ended up?
Whether you come to Rome seeking the eternal or contemporary, cliché or unexpected, these carefully crafted city tours will take you there.
PocketGuide, the world’s leading audio city guide application, reveals the best stories, insider hangouts and must-see sights in more than 100 major cities and tourist destinations.
PocketGuide turns your mobile device into a personal tour guide: The GPS figures out where you are, and a voice recording, made by a local guide, describes the sights around you. You don’t need to read text from your phone, just listen and enjoy a city’s attractions while your virtual tour guide explains it all and shares personal insights.
PocketGuide works offline, so you save on roaming charges, and it includes an offline map and loads of critical reviews that help you decide where to eat, drink and shop.
We also have fascinating themed tours, for those who want to go off the beaten path. Find the top tapas in Barcelona, get chic in NYC’s East Village or follow the trail of a 19th century serial killer in London.
Whether you're interested in the main sights or "the road less traveled", PocketGuide is ready to take you there.
Please note that continuous use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Tried to get me to install a diff app saying this one had bugs. Seemed like a scam and didn't trust it.

Best way to sightsee

Brilliant! Used this app for recent visit to Rome. Includes Colosseum, Vatican, etc. but also routes off beaten track. Put on your headphones, chose a route and follow the directions. Covers the famous sights, general history of the areas and architectural points of interest. Also recommends great pit stops (restaurants and bars) on route. Used every day and will use again for next city I visit.

Money making waste of time, don't bother

Not free!

It is not a free app if you have to pay to use every part of it. False advertising.

Well I've just down loaded and me being me it has started to tell me where I am etc well load of tripe Flood street was so named not because if it's closeness to the river! It was from the developer mr flood who built the large buildings that line it So fun but certainly not to be relied on!

Horrible experience with this app

Ehmehmkay on

I tried using this app on vacation in Rome. I paid for the complete Rome Tour pack. It was highly dissapointing. As I didnt want to incur roaming charges, I tried using the offline mode. The app failed to map my route over the trips I took. When we arrived at the colosseum the tour didn't work as they advertise. We tried using the map to find all the other tourist spots next to the colosseum and the points in the map are unusable. After the app failed me, I got a good ol paper map and that did the job just fine. I would like a refund as I never used the Rome pack at all as it didn't work.

Very useful, particularly the ability to use the map and gps without incurring network charges. Brief descriptions of points of interest quite good too.

In Roma as we speak

Lots of neat little surprises and I love that the app registers your journeys around town.

Map no good

I deleted this, the map doesn't zoom in or out & you can't tell what the attractions are unless you click on every one & watch the video!
