RPG Sounds FAQ
Is RPG Sounds free?
Yes, RPG Sounds is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is RPG Sounds legit?
Not enough reviews to make a reliable assessment. The app needs more user feedback.
The app and its pre installed sounds are great! I love the interface.
HOWEVER, if you plan to install your own sound effects library into the Custom files section, DON’T BOTHER with this app.
I installed a gigabyte of custom sound effects —232 individual files— and they all sorted RANDOMLY in the Custom files list! Thinking the ID3 tags might be the problem, I duplicated my library and stripped the ID3 tags from all files. I then devised a file naming system that would use Mac/iOS default file name sorting protocols to organize my sound library by Type (Atmosphere, SFX, Music), Category (Animals, People, Objects, etc), Genre (Fantasy, Horror, Sc Fi, etc), Description, and track time. (For example: SFX - Object - Fantasy- Floor Trap - 00m12s.mp3)
No good. Even with the ID3 tags stripped and a methodical file naming system, the files still sorted in random order. While this isn’t a problem if you only have a handful of files, it makes finding a file in a large file library impossible. And that makes the app almost worthless at the game table.
I guess I’ll be going back to DMDJ until this bug is fixed!
Missing some sounds
Some sounds are just plain missing
Doesn’t work
Downloaded the app to check it out and see if it was what I was looking for. Doesn’t even play audio. Uninstalled.
Can’t wait
I love using your apps in my games and I can’t wait for this app to get the same update that your fantasy sound board got!
Almost perfect
Amazing app, I run my games from OneNote and use this for music and sound effects at the table. My ONLY complaint is that it does not adjust to the horizontal plane when I turn my iPad sideways, which is what I need when I run games. The fantasy version does which is what makes it even more frustrating! Please can this get fixed, it’s tough to use when it doesn’t adjust, I have to turn my head sideways to read the text!
Missing something simple
Just missing D100, 3D6, and 4D6. That’s it. Seriously... just missing those tiny features!
Great
I love Cthulhu I love the books and stories. If you are like me you would love this app
Always love your apps
I love your apps so much! They’re so handy and fun! I would like for playlists to be easier to make on the spot and to be able to mix more sounds together, but they’re great other than that! I love that you added a Christmas sound pack as well! Event stuff is always cool!
I’m not sure if you guys have a website that I can contact you on and stay up to date with, but that’d be sweet!
Everything I needed except...
It’s an amazing app, with all the songs and effects I could need for a modern day RPG. Well, EXCEPT How expensive the premium is. Even the fact that you NEED premium to have the effects carry on to other apps. I know why it’s a thing, I just don’t like it, especially since RPG sounds: Fantasy’s premium was MUCH cheaper.
