Terrible app

Major UX issue needs fixing

IRLTopper on

Ireland

Generally a well made app but one bad UX error makes it unusable - If you leave the app for a minute and return, it resets and lands you on the home page. So you can pick up where you left off. This is a really bad experience for the reader. It’s been like this for years now. Would be great to get this fixed. Far more of a priority than anything else. Please fix. Content often needs a spell check. e.g. “ The ollision happened…”. There should be a feedback button in the app itself.

App Accessibility

Lscott73 on

Ireland

App needs to be more accessible for visually impaired, I use smart invert on my phone due to visual issues and on this app the photos end up as negatives, not an issue on other news apps like bbc

Atrocious app

batemobility on

Ireland

If you want to view a video on this app you can select choose what cookies you permit them to use or block and now that’s impossible as it’s disappeared into an area you can’t open . Your only choice is to allow ALL . No way . That’s illegal . RTÉ yet again giving more reason to ignore them as a choice to views news articles .

App writing and headline font too small

BDzqw on

Ireland

As per title, even with glasses on I find if difficult to read headlines or articles. What’s worse is it’s one of those apps where you can’t zoom in on an iPhone. Very frustrating

Since you won’t allow bug reports

Spideytrom on

After the most recent update I get sent to a different article than the one I clicked on. In order to get to where I was intending on going I need to back out of the wrong article and reclick the article I wanted to read.

Poorly Developed App - Typical RTE

Aaron_123 on

Ireland

The app is a joke, can’t even do basic things like multitasking, if you need to switch app or reply to a message while reading an article it doesn’t keep your place and resets to the home page. Video playback never works and the news is always out of date and articles poorly written and not fact checked properly, basic grammar id lacking.

Frustrating

Ireland

RTÉ can’t even manage a back button. When you hit the back button it brings you to a new article, it doesn’t go back like a back button should.

Inferior to the RTÉ news website so the app is pointless

Cearbhall on

Ireland

This app continues to violate apple’s App Store guidelines and should be removed until it resolves them. Violations include: 1. invalid app support link on App Store, it brings you to a broken page, so there is no way to contact the developer. 2. deliberately BLOCKS you from sharing using iMessage, but allows every other sharing option in the share sheet. Other bugs: return to an article from multitasking and the app will ignore where you were reading and send you back to the top of the article. Picture in Picture support does not work correctly. In all other apps you can full screen the PiP window to return to the full screen video in app. In RTÉ news now you will always have to start the video from scratch when you return to an app which is really poor if you’re watching live sports etc. This app serves no purpose other than to say “we have an app”. Delete it and use the website.

Non functioning

App will not function- had it for years but 25 January 2024 will not function- deleted and reloaded 3 times
