RUN-CHICKEN Reviews

This is amazing

I cannot understand the bad reviews unless they were written before updates. This app is incredible. It walks you through any changes you might make. It allows you to set the door using four different methods. There is no other door, or app for a door, that even compares to this one. Hats off to RUN-CHICKEN for making the best door on the market.

Can’t turn off promotional notifications

Even if I turn off the setting in the app, it still sends advertising push notifications

App is useless

Honestly after a few weeks of using it I really regret buying it. If it wasn’t for the fact that my husband installed the door in such a way I can’t remove the door I would remove it and return it. The door works off of light sensor or a manual control. So once you program the device there is no way to change it. For example if it’s going to storm and you want your flock to stay inside and the door to not open you have to completely delete the door from the app and reprogram it completely! The directions aren’t very clear either. Why it’s not blue tooth enabled I’ll never understand since the technology is so easy and everywhere come on run chicken do freaking better!

Works great! 😊 🐓

Works like a charm and my chickens love it! I can’t wait to try the new Bluetooth door upgrade!

Garbage app

The door used to be programmable from the product website. Now it can only be programmed through the app. There are other automatic doors available that can be programmed from the door itself, I am considering replacing my door with one of those, just to get away from this app.

This is how you program it people!!!!

OK after reading these reviews everyone is so concerned with themself……. The ONLY WAY to program the door so it opens at a certain time and closes at a certain time you have to flash a light sequence to the sensor via this app! It uses the phone to flash light at it. It’s pretty ingenious if you ask me. And then next week to change it, you need to walk up to it again and flash a different light sequence to reprogram it using the only method, this app! I’ve been using the run chicken door for two years now I have four of them and I won’t buy anything else! I am in Michigan. I would love to reprogram the chicken door from a far but I’m sure that chicken door would cost more like five or $600 not the 120 that you pay for this one it doesn’t have that technology available. If you find one available like that let me know.

Door is great!

I don't know much about the app, but the door was extremely easy to install and have working literally in minutes well worth the expenditure. For me it replaced an automatic door that cost 3 1/2 times as much, but this is simple and works better and does not require batteries.

Doesn’t work

Programming the app to the door does not work. Useless

Not enough features to be worth downloading

SnowLadyD on

As much as I like the automatic door, the app is not worth the space it takes on my phone. The app will not tell you whether the door is open or closed…or stuck. You cannot manually open or close the door with the app if it is currently set to specific time or light sensitivity. I set up a wifi camera in our coop to be able to check on the chickens without physically disturbing them. Thankfully I’ve never had an emergency situation where I needed to override the door program to let the chickens out - but that really should be a feature of the app. About the only useful thing in the app (besides being able to easily change the program) is checking the level on the battery charge. For now I’ve deleted the app. If the developers decide to include those features I’d be willing to download it again.

Glorified instruction manual

I was under the impression when I bought my door that I could control it via the app. The app has some use but it doesn’t show or control the activity of the door unless you’re literally standing right next to it. And in that case you don’t need the app. Disappointing.
