This is definitely the best GB and GBC Emulator and it plays GBA aswell for GBA tho I prefer to use the XGBA Emulator Then This One For GB And GBC roms I have one question tho Can The Dev Explain To Me How This Has Been Integrated With Homebrew Hub What Do U Mean By That Exactly??
I love this emulator! I switched because of Delta’s constantly glitched out audio with the buzzing. But, I wish there were cheat codes, I need them for a mapping project I’m working on. I know cheat codes are supported on the PC version, so if they ever get added to the iOS version too, I’ll give 5 stars!
(I’ve never reviewed anything before but had to for your this emulator) Been using Delta for so long.. GBC colors were always washed out. I just sucked it up and lived with it. I tried this and I’m awestruck by how the colors just pop out beautifully! This emulator won me over immediately! Permanent switch! @Developer, I don’t know how difficult it is to implement but some of us don’t use a controller and the “set” control scheme on landscape mode (especially) doesn’t work for everyone due to either phone screen size or hand size, it would be awesome if the buttons that make up the controls could be moved around to better facilitate this. All the best to the team! Looking forward to future updates!
The emulator, Sameboy (v0.16.6), is a good emulator. As other users have mentioned this emulator supports: 5 GameBoy hardware versions and 1 GameBoy Advance hardware version (for emulating GameBoy). However, when I try to open my backups dumped from my cartridges (ROMs) in .zip format the emulator will not play these files. Specifically, the emulator requires that the .zip files be unzipped in to: .gb and .gbc; files in order to play the ROMs. This is very tedious/inconvenient as the majority of users have their ROMs stored in .zip files and other compressed formats such as .7z. Also, if this app could add turbo button support: as in button is inputed repeatedly when held down; this would be appreciated especially in Pokémon to get through actions faster when fast forwarding. @Developer, would you please add support to play ROMs directly in .zip format as this would be greatly appreciated? A plus if you can secondarily add turbo button support. (I will update the review to 5 stars if implemented, thanks in advance.) Also, if you can add support to play ROMs directly in .7z format.
I’ve been using SameBoy on macOS for years. Absolutely amazing to have it on my iPhone now. The emulation quality is fantastic. Only thing I can suggest is GameBoy Printer support for the GameBoy/Pocket Camera games. 🖨️📷
SameBoy is even better than Delta or RetroArch when it comes to GB and GBC. It doesn’t have the annoying ticking sound that Delta has when you use AirPods. It lets you press 🅑 and 🅐 at the same time (although you have to go into the settings to turn it on). The games all run at full speed and even faster with an innovative analog fast forward control. It also supports all four types of palettes: Monochrome, button-combination colorization, SGB palettes, and full-color GBC where applicable. This is a huge improvement over Delta’s all-or-nothing. Not to be too harsh on Delta, it’s still perfect for everything but GB and GBC. SameBoy also lets you select between two d-pad styles. At the end of the day, I am quite impressed with this and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to play the applicable games on an iOS device. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the shaders! Edit: In a previous version of this review, I pointed out that the d-pad didn’t have a “center” spot to rest your thumb. They have since updated so it has one now! Thank you!
Look no further for Game Boy and/or Game Boy Color emulation. SameBoy is the most accurate emulator for both systems. It’s a pretty mature project as well, having surpassed Gambatte quite a while ago. Delta—which uses the Gambatte core—can’t compete with the color accuracy modes and palettes that are present on SameBoy.
So I was able to load some GameBoy and GBC games onto here and it does feel a bit superior to Delta. However, it won’t let me add any new games since they’re locked to Delta or something and I’m not able do the sharing thing to open it up in SameBoy. So not sure what else to do as I do want to load more games on here.
I will put it plainly: Let Delta run the consoles; the Boy belongs here! Solid and streamlined emulator. Seamless file adding, instant auto save, and a wide variety of options. Plus rumble on almost everything! Plus Backbone support, which previously didn't work but was quickly patched. So many great things to say. I won't even make a request like "oh dev, add gba too please". That's not what this app is for. (Unless the dev is working on it!)
