Very helpful for finding Halal food items!!!
It tells me all about halal and non halal foods
First I want to say, that an app like this is very much needed in our community and I really want this to be successful. However, there are many deficiencies in the current version that make it difficult to use. I want to pay for Pro and support the app, but its current problems don’t instill much confidence in me that it would be worth it. This is obviously going to be a critical review, but my intention here is not to discourage the Scan Halal team. I’m simply hoping to communicate how the app can do better and to set users’ expectations. I have tried reaching out to their support email but never received a response. Problem: Data Accurate data is the backbone of an information app like this. Two major problems I’ve consistently run into are (1) lack of products and (2) incomplete or inaccurate data for existing products. On a recent trip to Costco, most of the items I scanned were not listed in the app, and submitting scans of them seems pointless (more on this later). For the rare occasion where the product is available in the app, I’ve had problems where the ingredient list is either truncated or just different from the product in my hand. Together, these two problems make the app virtually useless. Yes I understand I can submit new products or corrections to existing ones, but this should be a rare exception, not a regular experience daily with the app. Problem: Product Submissions As previously mentioned, many of the products I attempt to check are not in the app. Submitting new products however, seems pointless. There is currently no way that I can view the status of my submissions. When I try to view them, it spends about 10 seconds loading and then fails, showing an empty list, even though I know I’ve submitted multiple items in the past. To date, I still have never seen my submitted products or what their status is. Another issue is the product submission process. It does not allow you to crop photos before uploading, which seems like a pretty basic feature in 2024. Or at least select from my Camera roll. Third, the submission itself occasionally hangs, forcing me to kill the app. Combined with the fact that I can’t see previous submissions, that means I have no way of knowing if it was successful or not. Problem: Search Where is the search function? This is a necessary function for an informational app like this. The only option I have is to choose from some fixed categories, which then displays about a dozen “trending” products. This is no
Okay good
