"I can honestly see why this was such a big hit on Playdate" -- Touch Arcade, Game of the Week.

Generations is a challenging puzzle game that has you organizing family portraits on the wall of a living room, a task requiring a surprising amount of strategy, planning, and thinking ahead.
Each time you hang three (or more) portraits of any family members of the same age group next to each other, their portraits will combine into a new portrait of an older family member.
The current portrait is on the table to the left of the couch, and the next portrait rests on the middle of the couch. Bonus portraits will appear on the table to the right of the couch.
The game begins with storks. Three storks combine into an infant. Three infants turn into a child, and so on until you combine three portraits of the matriarchs and patriarchs of the family. When this happens, you've created a Generation, and all portraits you've hung on the wall will automatically age up and the spaces occupied by the seniors will open back up, ready for a new generation of descendants.
Portraits can only be hung next to other portraits, and you'll need to think ahead to optimize their placement in order to chain matches and not strand any. Once you've run out of space on the wall, the game will end.

I love this game, but intermittent freeze up of the tiles on the board….very irritating as you loose your set-up of the blue puzzle pieces. I have been playing this game everyday since I purchased, but this little problem is driving me nuts. Otherwise this is a GREAT game!
Challenging, Fun, Great Value
I prefer games that make you think and involve strategy, not games for which you need razor sharp reflexes, or those with ads and extra payments. This $4.99 game is perfect! You can play it at a leisurely place, and you can keep learning as your scores get higher.
I seem to have hit a plateau at a score of about 2500 to 3000. My current situation is that I keep winding up with four or five “seniors” that I cannot connect in an adjacent group of three. This clogs the board. However, I still greatly enjoy the game and trying out new strategies.
I once got a score of 9000 and thought I had mastered an effective technique, but I never achieved that high a score again and I’m not sure how I did. It may have been the luck of the draw or I may have figured out a good strategy that I can’t remember or repeat. I would appreciate it if anyone can give me some hints or point me to a strategy guide. Thanks! Bob G
You’re basic match three
I’ll give us a four star rating, despite it only being good on a phone and not an iPad as much and being just a basic match three with a small twist because it is not a paper plate or add game which I strongly support. Tired of those kind of games and regardless of this game I would’ve gotten five stars if I just had a little bit more to it.
What mobile games should be.
This game is fantastic.
It’s incredibly fun and addictive and is well worth the $5. There are no ads, no loading, no annoying upsells. The only time I’ve been confused was when I didn’t see a save button so I could come back to a game… and then I realized that EVERYTHING IS JUST SAVES AUTOMATICALLY, like mobile apps used to do.
This game will be a classic. We’ll done.
Fun, relaxing, whether co-op or solo play
This game is approved by me, and my 3YO and 6YO nieces. They immediately apprehended the game dynamics of matching three pieces to age up the family members, and we take turns laying down pieces. The youngest claimed the “bird” pieces and the eldest claimed the “baby” pieces.
The self-paced nature of the game keeps it fun and relaxing, and the musical tones are a nice touch too. You can also save to the game and return to it later. The game developer has also shared some nice tips online.
100/100 for an iPhone puzzle game 🧩
Can't put it down!
It's seemingly a simple game but it's filled with strategies to discover. I'm obsessed!
I’m obsessed!
Generations is an amazing puzzle game! It's all about organizing family portraits to create generations, and it's super challenging but tons of fun. The graphics are bright and colorful, and there are online leaderboards, achievements, and even a sticker pack for iMessage. You can play as different families and it's just a blast! Totally recommend it for puzzle game fans. 5 stars all the way!
My new favorite game...
I love this app!
Challenging, but not hectic
Love the self-paced nature of this game. The more you play it the more you start to develop your own strategy, which is a lot of the fun. Graphics are gorgeous, too!
