ScoreCloud Express Reviews

Has potential to be amazing - is the only one like it I think?

IrishMaccer on

Ireland

This has got potential and would be extremely useful now with everything online. Music students are required to do melodic and rhythmic dictations of 8-16 bar tonal and atonal melodies. It would be great if you could build the technology to achieve this accurately. I’ve been paying for this for about 4 years now with the hope that one day I’ll turn it on and it’ll be great! (Sadly not yet) Also - the laptop version is too complicated and the iPhone version ‘record’ button should start immediately and not have a ‘countdown’. Makes it too messy and inaccurate if the playing has already begun. Please come back and work on this!! I’ll help if you want!

Still not great

Inside the black cat on

Ireland

So six years in from the last review and it is still not great. Maybe the laptop version is better but it’s over three euro now for the iPad/iPhone app and it’s fine for as the last reviewer said as a recording notebook for simple ideas but not for development of ideas or even transcribing anything a bit difficult. I just gave up trying to edit out an unwanted triplet and insert a semi quaver. Anything rhythmically challenging ends up as a forest of tiny semi hemi quavers and weird syncopation. Not for those who don’t already know how to write music. I would skip this and go look at the real program.

Be Patient

ClusterCluck on

If this worked any bit as well as the desktop version, it would be a good deal more expensive. It is pretty pointless at the moment, except as a recording notepad. There are many free recorders that are better. The success rate of the transcription is poor enough to confuse you, rather than remind you of your ideas. This was made available too soon. However, check out the DoReMir desktop version on its free trial. If you want those functions without paying a lot, buy this app at 89 cent, and wait for it to improve greatly. I suspect it will get a lot better, but also dearer. Invest now, and take a small risk? As it now stands, it is of use only to the tone deaf, so only 2 stars. I believe it will reach for the 5 star ratings soon enough.

Total waste

I was looking forward to having this app to write down my notes on the go. Unfortunately, the app stopped working after 2 days and would not open. No wonder it received poor reviews.

Exceeded my expectations

I started the app and played a simple melody on my violin. I was delighted at how well it transcribe the notes! I’m very pleased!

The simple tool I was looking for …

HisPathDaily- on

United States

Playing for my worship team at church, we cycle through a lot of songs. Playing guitar, while it’s obviously more about the worship, there’s all those little intros and riffs that I would like to remember. Because I don’t play music full-time, and even the songs that often, it’s always like relearning it again each time. Since I read music, now I can play the intro or riff, and now have those few bars stored for a very quick and easy reference … next time the song comes up in the rotation, it minimizes all of that relearning again. obviously, I think it will be helpful for my own composition and playing around, but I was more specifically looking for a tool to store a library of simple melodies and riffs. I think this might be it finally!

Nope

Definitely not worth $2.99. It actually wouldn’t be worth it if it were free.

DO NOT BUY

App is very bad do not buy on

United States

For people who want to turn made up songs into sheet music, this might sound cool. But I played two notes at once, C and E, and the app thought I played D TWO OCTAVES DOWN. You also have to play insanely slow to have your music written correctly. Do not believe anyone who defends this app. DO NOT BUY.

Completely inaccurate converting audio to notation

Refund Plz 374 on

United States

Tried a slow piece and up tempo piece audio-to-notation conversion and the resulting notation was almost entirely inaccurate and incomplete. Simply doesn’t work for this function. Was excited at the prospect, but the other reviews are unfortunately on point. Hope you can come up with something that works because there is great need and potential here for audio-to-notation.
