Simple and does what I want
I love that this app exists. Emacs forever!
Yes, *scratch* is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Not enough reviews to make a reliable assessment. The app needs more user feedback.

A bare bones quick scratch pad. It does exactly as described. Absolutely worth the low low price. The only detail I didn’t realize about the app before purchasing and didn’t see mentioned any where and one that potential buyers might care about, is this: There is no way to move the keyboard down out of the way. It is locked in place and takes up half of the vertical screen depth. There is no “down button” in the tool bar and no swipe-down functionality to make the keyboard disappear. Other than that, very cool!
Great app. Simple and does all I needed for a quick note.
Need a quick note, but may also want to flush it out aka ORG/markup. Love it.
Does exactly what it says, with a clean and simple notes buffer interface. Eliminates the friction of a full notes app (choose a note name, decide where to put it, deal with unnecessary clutter, etc). I use it all the time to create, edit, paste, share alt text, signature blocks, and other boilerplate stuff on the fly while on my iPhone.
The app is designed so simply while still retaining absolutely necessary functions. It makes note taking enjoyable while preventing the overwhelming clutter that comes form notes piling up. Also love having a format that’s easily transferable across apps.
It’s a nifty app, great for quick jotting of text. I wish it can also add outliner features, especially text folding. That would make it fabulous!
A KILLER feature would be an iOS widget for the Lock Screen that drops you right into a new *scratch* buffer. I would pay for it for sure!
To minimize friction to capture a though, something like *scratch* is needed. The important part is that there’s no need to organize stray notes or no worries of having a backlog of garbage notes. And more apps should support org-mode syntax.
