Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance: how you will contact one another; how you will get back together; and what you will do in different disaster situations. The SD Emergency app contains disaster preparedness information, like:
• The ability to create your own emergency plan
• The ability to build an emergency supplies kit
And when disaster strikes, the SD Emergency app will keep you and your family informed with:
Notification: A known defect exists in this release in which, under certain circumstances, earthquake reports are not displayed in the app. This defect does not affect Earthquake Alert functionality.
Plus, the app features a recovery section with resources during the aftermath of disasters.
The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services (OES) created the SD Emergency app to better prepare and inform San Diego County residents and visitors about disasters. With SD Emergency, the tools you need to plan, prepare and respond in an emergency are right at your fingertips.

False Alarm
I have had this installed for less than 24 hours and it sent a false earthquake alarm. It said earthquake detected one mile from my location and to take cover. However, when I look at the map, it shows the event more than 150 miles from my current location.
All the location settings and privileges are enabled and my VPN is off, so those are not the problem. If I cannot trust emergency alerts from an emergency alert application then it is useless. Advice to the product owner for this project: do not enable features in a beta state for this type of software. An emergency alert application should be reliable and well tested or not available for download at all.
Earthquake alerts go off too frequently
The earthquake alerts go off for any earthquake in the state regardless of distance! Please fix this!
San Diego emergency App
I really liked this app cool features. Then it wanted me to update for earthquake alerts apparently makes your phone shake. Anyway now it is stuck with the new feature staring me in the face but I can’t close it move it or do anything else it is frozen. Supposedly there is an update which might fix it but I cant find that. Don’t want to delete and lose my info.
Shake alert freezing screen
iPhone is freezing with single panel red on white typing describing upgrade but cannot exit screen and complete upgrade
Design mat be better
The app may be cool; however, the design & layout may be more Modetn of 21st century
cannot update SD earthquake early warning
app freezes. Now what????
Hard to use
Not easy to find info once you get a notification. Also I can’t delete old notifications. Not user-friendly app
Not Particularly Helpful
The county maps should be using Google Maps for a dynamic interface. The static maps that you can’t zoom in/out from aren’t all that helpful.
This app should be updating the containment levels of fires and include info for weather like wind direction and speed.
Good for emergencies slow on information
It is an okay app. It gives alerts out but getting the information is slow. During the rain month, December 2019, I would get flash flood warnings from this app only to wait for the information. I was contact to WiFi. My weather app was faster in giving my the information on the flash floods in my area. It’s good to have. I am hoping the county will get the information out faster.
Nice idea, very poor execution
Most notices are for issues very far away. Three notices today for fires over 90 minutes from both where I am today and where my home is.
Worse, there were no notices for the fire that burned to within a half mile of my home. While I was there.
Again, good idea, but very poor execution.
Ideally, the app would differentiate between issues that affect me and issues that affect others. And the settings would allow for that. For example, a problem 5 miles away should have a different notice and sense of urgency than a problem more than 50 miles away.
Right now, those two issues are treated the same.
Until that’s fixed, this will just be another useless County program.
