Sense Arena Reviews

Does not work for skater

I can’t speak to the goalie side of this game, but the skater version absolutely does not work. You cannot stick handle, shoot, or pass in any manner similar to actual hockey.

Terrific Training Tool

Having experienced Sense Arena’s Goalie Training for several months now I can honestly say it had definitely helped me and my on-ice training. One of many great features with the help from Sense Arena is identifying areas that I need to improve and allows me to customize my training. I highly recommend Sense Arena to anyone serious about improving their game.

I’m honestly shocked

I’m an adult onset hockey player (40s, playing for 2 years) and with life, my ice time is limited. Sense Arena has dramatically improved my reaction time. I do the drills for 20-30 minutes a few times a week. The graphics are good and the addition of music is super fun. Even my team has noticed my rapid improvement. Customer service is fast and friendly. Some areas that could use improvement: the haptic stick mount needs pretty frequent calibrating. Also, the drills have a set number of scenarios, so I’ve found myself facing the same 4-5 passing situations in the Forward Breakout Drill, which moves me away from reacting and into rote memorization. More variety and unpredictability would be nice. Otherwise, this has been a great purchase. The benefits far outweigh the bumps.

Great add on

The training from Sense Arena is great for when you can’t actually get on the ice. Keeps our 10 year old in the game and fresh with something other than just being a target at normal practice.

Full emersion

Excellent for training eye movement. Works great for fundamentals (Square, Angles, Depth) as well as letting you work through a screen without having to book ice time with other players. As long as you really use good form you’ll even get a great workout from 30 minutes of drills. I've seen parents complain that it was too expensive but think nothing of throwing $100’s a week into goalie coaching and stick time. This won't replace working with a coach on the ice but it's a great tool to help goalie development. I've started to use it on game days to warm up prior to getting on the ice. You don't need a fast internet connection to log in to the system. It helps to have an empty room at the rink for warmups because you can forget where you are when you're training. Would be nice if there was a way to distinguish dropping to a butterfly and sliding post to post but I’m sure the technology will catch up eventually. Overall, I can't recommend Sense Arena for goalies enough.

Amazing training tool

Great product, definitely great for repetitions and tracking drills. Super fun

Great app, has helped me. A couple bugs

This app has helped me a lot as I have embarked on playing goalie at 45. Angles are much better, can read and see the puck better, react to faster shots etc. A couple minor bugs here and there, like on screen drills it counts as a goal if the puck hits the screen player, and the selective focus drill will sometime put the red and black puck so close to each other it will register as a fail even if you went for the black puck and got it. The big update is awesome, gamefying the drills makes my competitive desire wake up more and challenge myself for 3 star finishes.

Useless

No idea how to connect the app to Meta Quest 2…no directions and no way to get in touch with them for advice… Very frustrating

Misleading advert and product omissions. Just beware.

I was so looking forward to this but it’s not worth it. I had wanted to try this for awhile now and saw an ad pop up that it was a 10-day free trial and then $350 for the year. I thought great so I ordered. My ‘trial’ started the next day but I had zero equipment to use it with. This 10-day trial only works if you own a vr headset already, which you cannot add on with this specific purchase. There is zero information about needing to OWN vr equipment which as it turns out makes this closer to $800 with a refurbished set. Given that the trial is only for 10 days and they need to ship you the sleeves you are waiting for delivery of the equipment during the ‘trial’ period. I was not prepared for the LACK of information that would cost me even more money. That you need to own vr equipment should be mentioned but there is nothing at all while you are applying for the trial. I am severely disappointed and I’ll be contacting my financial institution to render zero payments to this company should there somehow be a glitch and I accidentally get charged as someone else had mentioned on the Oculus Quest website. There are more reviews on that site so do your own homework about this purchase/trial. My trial ends on 4/10/23 but I’m calling tomorrow, well within my cancel period and before my sleeves are set to arrive ON the 10th. Only adding this as a digital trail of intent to cancel. (4/5/23)
