My nine-month-old loves the colored dots app and we have used it on road trips when she has gotten really fussy. This app seems much more dull and I agree that there needs to be interactive sounds with hitting the squares. She is not interested in it at all. I also agree that the shapes should be more basic...why a wrench?? Maybe just use things like animals or basic shapes, etc?
Recommendations
There needs to be interactive sounds for when you hit the squares. That would serve as stimulation for the young ones and incentive to even hit a square. It's kind of boring and dull for infants. Also like someone else said, the shapes need to be a little less complicated. Not too bad of an app, just mostly boring for my daughter. Without sound, she doesn't really care to hit a square. That's half the fun for them.
Great Company
I LOVE the frustration free part of this. I get tired of my daughter hitting the X or menu button on other apps by accident. She loves this one and the bubble pop one. The only suggestion is that I would like to see the pictures be even simpler since this is an early infant app. Maybe with shapes instead of complicated images. Maybe even with 2 levels for basic shapes then other images. That is my only suggestion otherwise I love the apps. Keep them coming.
Well done
I'm not in favor of apps for babies or toddlers, and this is the only app I have in the "under 5" category. I use it for emergencies when I really need a distraction. It's well done and simple. I've the developer's other apps, too, and they all have a similar design theme.
Recommended.
Awesome update!
My daughter LOVES this update! Great pictures and sounds!
Not updated -- turned into a new game.
I loved the earlier version of this game when all it did was have smaller & smaller blocks opening up. I enjoyed creating patterns & kids who used my iPad really enjoyed it too.
I hadn't used it in a while, so I was surprised & dismayed to open it up & find that the developers have turned this into a pull-off-the-panels-and-see-picture game.
This has been "updated" into a whole different game; so potential purchasers should ignore earlier reviews.
I guess this one is fine for toddlers, so I didn't want to give it only one star; but I wish the developers had kept this game as it was (good for both toddlers & older people) and marketed the game in its current form as another game.
The game will be coming off my iPad, with my regrets.
Baby Game
My 1 year old Niece really likes this color game
Like colored post-its
This game is cute. It fills the screen with an increasing amount of multicolored squares that flips to a single color and fill the screen. They can tap then one by one or slide their fingers over them for a wave-like effect. There is no sound to this game is more of a zen style play.
Color Squares
Color Squares is a very soothing app to play. Beginning with 4 large squares of different colors, the player is to turn them to change them all to the same color. Once all squares have been turned a new page opens with more squares, each new page expands in number of squares to turn. The background music is nice and it is fun to try and make a pattern or design as you turn over the squares. Good for small ones learning their colors and fine motor control, but equally appealing to adults. There are no in app purchases, but access to the developer can be found in the about button.
Recommended app
Color Squares is a relaxing cause and effect game for the very young - although it can be quite addicting for adults. The premise of this app is to remove the color squares (they appear as if they are stickies left on the screen), to reveal the color beneath. The colors are rich, and not so visually bright to overwhelm photosensitive kids. The music is sweet and encouraging, and there is no overlay of voices - especially if a child has high tone or difficulty with multiprocessing. It is also great to use with kids who do not have fine hand control as you can swipe or place your hand on the screen to remove the squares. I think that this is very thoughtful of the developer as all kids, including kids with special needs, can be successful with this app. A great companion to Ellie's other app "Color Dots".
