De son vrai nom Salihou Ibn Ahmadou, Serigne Saliou Mbacké est venu au monde à Diourbel en 1915. Il devient le 5e Khalife des mourides, succédant à Serigne Abdou Khadre Mbacké en 1989. Il bénéficiait d’une grande aura dans cette communauté et dans le monde musulman.
Cheikh Ahmadou BAMBA a donc eu la ” main heureuse ” en donnant à ce fils, né en 1915 à Diourbel et qui allait devenir le cinquième Khalife des Mourides, le nom de Saliou. Nom prédestiné s’il en est, Saliou qui signifie la Vertu colle admirablement bien à notre héros.
