Sewing Patterns

Keep your collection at hand

Description

Have you ever tried going on a shopping spree for new fabrics (in physical stores or online), only to feel completely lost by not knowing exactly how you would use that nice-looking piece of fabric, and end up purchasing the wrong thing - or purchasing the right thing, but in the wrong quantity - or worse, still: Leaving empty-handed?
If your answer is "yes", then Sewing Patterns will be your indispensable companion in the future. The inspiration in the form of your pattern library is right at your fingertips, wherever you go, and you can easily make sure that you purchase the right fabric in the right quantity - and with the right accessories. The app also helps you find inspiration on how to best make use of your current stash of fabric.
The app lets you gain the perfect overview in a single place, whether your patterns are purchased, found in magazines, or your own creations entirely. You can categorize your patterns based from standard garment types, or create as many of your own categories as you like. You can have your patterns sorted alphabetically, by most recent usage, or in any particular order you like. Each pattern can be associated with as many categories as you wish.
It is entirely up to you how many details you want to register for your individual patterns, but the more details you supply, the more help you will find in the built-in filtering function. When browsing your patterns, only the filled-in information is shown, so you won't have to deal with lots of empy fields.
Using the camera, you can supply your pattern details with pictures of the model, the instructions, or perhaps of the finalized garments. You can add as many pictures and PDF files as you like, both for your categories, your patterns and your fabric.

Use the Filter function if you need to search for a specific pattern in your pattern library, or just need inspiration for your next project, based on a specific piece of fabric.
In all aspects, Sewing Patterns is an indispensable app, for the experienced seamstress and the newcomer alike!

Sewing Patterns Reviews

Great

VirgeNZ on

This app has changed things in my sewing room. It’s has been a huge job loading all the patterns on to the app but the benefits are well worth it. For example, if I’m looking for a coat pattern I simply look in the coat category and see what patterns I have- because I filed the patterns numerically after I had loaded them on the app- I can easily find the pattern I want. As some patterns may have a coat, trousers and a skirt on them- this app allows you to put them in all the categories applicable. If I’m in a fabric shop, I can see the quantity of fabric I need for a specific pattern. It would be amazing if scanning the barcode loaded the picture and the back cover data - maybe this will happen with time. I would also like the facility to click favourites- but this could be easily done by creating a favourites category. Thank you- I’ve been looking for an app like this for a long time.

Update: 12/10/24: Good App; Could Use New Features (#GotThem)

This application does what it is supposed to do; however, it would become a great application (for me), if it would implement new features to minimize the input time (especially when you are inputting OVER 1,000 patterns). One feature that would assist in minimizing the input time is to add a drag and drop feature. When you add a new pattern, it’s pictures and sometimes its chosen fabric, you have to search through your album folder, select one photo at a time, add that photo; and then you will have to repeat the process until you add ALL the photos you would like to add to that ONE pattern. It would be great to just open your photo app and this app, drag and drop your pictures into this app, and continue with filling in the “blanks.” It would even be great to have the ability to search your photo album using the search button and selecting more than one pattern at one time; then, you can continue filling in the blanks. The final feature that would make this pattern application wonderful/perfect is to have a fabric section independent from the pattern section. Many sewers purchase many pieces of fabrics, and it would be wonderful/great to catalogue those pieces of fabric into this application. Moreover, it would be great/terrific to have the ability to search the fabric and identify which pattern (if applicable) that fabric was chosen. With these two changes, although I know they are not minor-and we may probably never have these features added-it would make this pattern application perfect; just as long as it isn’t removed from the application store. Thanks for creating a good product. On today, December 10, 2024, I opened my tablet, performed my monthly updates, and saw that this application has fulfilled one of my “possibly impossible” suggestions: SELECTING MORE THAN ONE PICTURE AT A TIME!! AND you can search your photo album within this application as though you are actually in the photo app. I spit my tea out while trying to scream, performed my update, and I will commence to complete the tedious task of adding the remaining patterns including the new ones that were purchased using this MAGNIFICENT update; now, Mr. Pedersen, I’m patiently waiting on the independent fabric tab. (LOL). THANK YOU for this update!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS PATTERN APP EVEN MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

I love using this app

I love using this app, but it is time consuming. I wish you could just scan the barcode and everything is inputted for you. I know that perfect world doesn’t exist yet. I’m so grateful that finally I have somewhere to store all of my patterns and I can take it them with me. I wish there was a place I could log the patterns I would like to purchase in the future, but for now I’ll just continue to store them in my notes. I highly recommend this app.

Suggested feature (or improvement)

I have really enjoyed using this app. I use it when I’m shopping to avoid duplicate purchases or reference fabric type/amount. A problem I’m having is once I put in the information including pattern pictures I can’t at a later date update the information to include a picture of the fabric used. I will input the update but the new picture doesn’t show. I have tried on numerous occasions without success. Otherwise I really like this app. Very useful (although limited per above comment)

Love this app!

This app has been such a valuable asset for reviewing my pattern collection. I’d be lost without it. Easy to use with many features. So many thanks.

Excellent support

I have been using this app for years. I love it because of the simplicity. I don’t like all the extra stuff the other apps add; it’s like going to a restaurant and being given 100 choices—it’s just too much. Recently the app stopped working and would close within a minute of opening. I emailed the developer, Klaus, who told me to disable cloud syncing. Lo and behold, it worked! I am so happy and will support this lovely dev’s other apps as I also knit. Thank you Klaus!

Great job

I’ve been having a wonderful time putting in the pattern in. What a great idea. Now my problem, I have reached pattern # 421 an I can no take pictures. I can enter all the other information. I’ve gone to settings & have 250 GB of storage. It’s an iPhone. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Also how do I engage family sharing? I don’t see it in settings. Am updating my review. If I could give this a 10star, I would. The developer contacted me promptly. He is looking into my problem with my iPhone. I entered all the rest (575) patterns on my iPad. Tedious but worth while. Now I have all my patterns at my fingertips when I go shopping for fabric. Wonderful app!

Game changer!

Leia Aurora on

I currently have almost 500 different sewing patterns. I was constantly having to search and forget that I had certain patterns and then I would buy more and then I would find the one I had initially been searching for it and it was just a struggle to keep organized. I stumbled on this one just a few days ago and decided to buy the unlimited version and I love it. I have so far cataloged almost 300 of my patterns and it has been so easy to see what I have and in what sizes and what it looks like and I cannot thank this developer enough for creating this because it seriously has solved such a huge problem in my life. I have been telling everyone I know about it I love it that much. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Love it!

This app is great! Helps me remember what patterns I have and gives me one place to store photos of all the versions of that pattern I have made. It is also great for inspiration and keeping track of patterns you are thinking of making/purchasing. Thank you for making such a useful tool!!

Organize your Sewing patterns!

sad puzzle lady on

United States

This is a great solution to organizing your dozens (or hundreds!) of patterns. It is not immediately intuitive, but spend some time with it and you will not be sorry. When you are done with some picture taking and input, you'll be able to search for patterns by number, or that work with specific fabrics, or by type of apparel . You can even categorize 1 pattern by as many options as needed (eg: if pants, top, and a hat are in that envelope). This is a game changer for sewing organization!
