Shiloh Battle App Reviews

Poorly laid out tours

This app would be much better if the stops were in the same order as the National Park Service self-guided tour. As it is, one must follow the route provided by the park service and search for the stops in the app. Some of the stops aren’t in the app or have different names. Very difficult to use. We finally gave up on the app.

For anyone interested in the Civil War, this is The App to get. Lots of facts and information about The Battle of Shiloh. I’ve lived in Memphis my whole life and with this app I have learned more about The Battle of Shiloh. This is a free app and there are others about other Civil War Battles available. It gets 5 stars from me.

Useful Especially for GPS

While this app can not replace a good battelfield map (spend the few dollars to get the monumnent map in the bookstore - it is definitely worth it!) the GPS function comes in handy when you venture off the beaten path and need to get your bearings. I certainly found it very useful and worth the download. One caution, the app's location tor Prentiss' surrender site is off by a significant distance! The app would have you beleve it is near the Sunken Road while in fact it is in a swale behind and to the right of the Confederate monument. Other marked locations appear to be a bit off as well. However, that being said the app is very handy for battle overview and contains tour routes which I did not utilize since I have my own agenda!
