Nautical clock plays ship bell

Published by: Douglas Lovell

Description

This application is NOT compatible with the Apple Watch. If your device is connected with a watch, when the device is "asleep", you will not hear the ships bell notification sounds. The notification goes to the watch. The watch plays its own notification sound. There is no way to prevent this behavior.

ShipsClock Reviews

Live Aboard Sailor

I live aboard a 30 ft sailboat and my 40+ year old Airguide mechanical ships clock has stopped working. This is an excellent replacement! I enjoy being aware of the time by hearing the bells without having to look at a clock or watch or phone.

Replaces my Weems and Plath

My Weems and Plath clock failed, ringing the incorrect number of bells, and they would not do anything to fix it. So I bought this and put it on an unused iPhone. The bell sounds are far superior to any app, and actually are better than the chiming ship’s clock, much to my surprise. I do have an Apple watch, unfortunately, as the app developer noted, the clock will not chime on my current iPhone if it is connected to the watch. That’s my only complaint.

Wont sound bell all the time. It just turned 1200 noon, no bell???

Few settings

I want settings so that I can control when the notifications arrive, e.g. only when I’m awake and only once an hour. There don’t seem to be such settings

Good but a few gripes ...

Basic functionality is excellent, and the bell sound is charming, but ... (1) The app needs a volume control, and (2) The displays of hour angle of sun and moon only update at the moment the app becomes active. How about more often, say once a minute?

Pretty good

It bad. Very accurate except that ships don’t ring bells at night. Needs a way to set silence times. As it is I have to silence the whole phone.

No sound!

Looks nice. All features other than sound are useful. But the lack of sound will be its deletion ticket.

Perfect sound & operation!!!

Now that app is working with Apple update it is doing so perfectly. Great replacement for “Marine Bells” that bailed on their app. Bell sound: Perfect. Bell count: Perfect. Clock information: Perfect. You will have no control over this app as it is entirely automatic. It does mute during “Sleep “ and knows your location. This is the only GENUINE AND RELIABLE ship’s clock offered. The others are junk!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! USN RET. ‘Nam - Iraq 🇺🇸
