ShroomID - Identify Mushrooms

The app works reasonable well and I like its suggestions and UI. However the updates log you out and prompt for surveys to use the app. Those surveys are useless for just wanting to identify a mushroom and is really annoying when I’m trying to use the app in the woods and have to stand there waiting until it does some customization? like why can’t I just use the app?

It’s mostly accurate with proper pictures but mostly for easily identifiable species, And even then sometimes it’ll spit something that makes no sense like clearly what’s growing in my front yard isn’t from South America or sm like that or just looks nothing like it. But I really like the community post if your in good groups you get direct feedback from ppl who typically study mushrooms as much as me or more.

Have used this app several times with different fungi/mushrooms. In most all instances, the identification was very close. Posting to the group is also helpful with identifying.

I moved from Michigan to Foley, Alabama in 2005. I recently started hunting mushrooms around here and thanks to the shroom id app I have identified over a dozen edible mushrooms including gourmet and medicinal mushrooms as well as dozens of others. Absolutely awesome. The better your photos the better your id results. Thank you and happy hunting😁

This app along with my Peterson field guide and iNaturalist I have what I need to ID fungi!!! ALWAYS get a second and third opinion before eating any mushroom!!! Safe foraging!

Great tool for getting a baseline of predictions. Also a good study tool using the shroomtrainer quiz. Many predictions are correct, but as always use more than one guide!

This app has been very useful in learning to identify mushrooms. I’ve been using it for a couple years and I’ve learned a lot. 🍄

I love this app. Two of my favorite things are being able to upload photos to help identify mushrooms. Lookalikes are provide to help rule out possible identifications. Second, being able to see what’s growing in my area is amazing. This has helped me so much more than any books. I would totally recommend this app to anyone interested in fungi!
