S+S was so great when they started our. Fast forward to now and it’s like they got too big too fast and don’t know how to handle it. The app was a cool companion to the journal, but it’s become a toxic place run by a hypocritical company. They boast self care but only self care that has to do with silk and sonder. If you even mention the name of another great self care program - say, journal party, they’ll delete your comment. They delete comments left and right and even if you specifically ask, no one will answer you. Their support only answers emails when the result is a purchase or payment to S+S. They only want a specific type of member there, and I’m not for it.
Unfortunately, you have to provide data before you can view the app. Too many times, I’ve deleted an app shortly after signing up, even if free, only to find out the app isn’t for me or has technical issues. If you have a great product that you believe in, allow people to skip the sign in and review the app before committing to it.
I purchased an annual membership beginning with October 2023 and I am so appreciative and excited with the entire community, events, materials, and members. This is an effective method to learn about yourself and to grow into the person you want to be. You can participate in as much or as little as you like as you change your life for the better, all with supportive members and facilitators. The amount of information can be intimidating at first but you don’t need to complete everything all at once. Take it one step at a time and you will become a pro Sonder member in due time. Come join us!
I was apprehensive to commit, but I honestly look forward to it every morning and I’m so grateful to have found this practice through Silk and Sonder. I absolutely love the daily rituals section in the app and how inspiring, motivating and eye opening each one is— I’m excited to listen to them each morning. I’m so impressed with these journals and all the resources provided in the app. It’s truly been an amazing experience and I can’t thank Meha enough for creating this practice.
Great App helps me stay motivated. I just wish I could use it on my iPad in full screen. 😔 Please make this happen. I can’t be the only one who wants that.
A year ago I purchased a one year Silk + Sonder subscription for myself as a birthday gift. My first cute calendar arrived mid April (for April) and when the second calendar hadn’t arrived a week into the month I reached out and asked what was happening (a one month calendar is pretty useless when it arrives on the fifteenth) and was told it was their error and that they would comp me a month next year. I was kind of over the company at that point, and I clearly remember going to the website and canceling my subscription and thinking that at least that was finished. Fast forward to today when my account over drafted with a two hundred dollar charge. I reached out and explained that I was certain that I’d canceled, with a screenshot of last year’s exchange and asked that they issue a refund. After all with those comped months they still owe me a couple calendars to toss in the trash (even my journal loving teen doesn’t want them). They said absolutely not. So. Yeah. I know they advertise a lot. But I cannot tell you how strongly I would recommend avoiding them. Between the shipping problems and the atrocious customer service it isn’t worth the headache.
I’ve been trying out a couple of different mental health apps and I just stumbled across this one and decided to try it. Right away I had to put in my phone number and full name which as is makes me a little uncomfortable, I don’t like using my full name on social media or in apps like this, especially considering this is a mental health app. Then it asked me to put in my email as well as some other optional personal information. These things aren’t super uncommon for social media-type apps but the fact that it’s a mental health app specifically it gives me bad vibes. Of course then there’s a pop up for a membership because every app needs to have a subscription service now. Once I got past all of that I finally got to the home page where I found… ads. About a third of the home page is populated with ads for the silk + sonder shop and it made me feel a little overwhelmed. A lot of this app felt disingenuous, it felt like it cared more about aesthetics and money than actual mental health. Idk, other people seem to really like it and I found out this app is made to accompany a journal so maybe it would be more appealing if I had that but for me it just gave me bad vibes.
They recently changed the platform where they no longer do new daily ritual content, they are reusing prompts from their library. Whenever there was concern about the new format as posts in the community, the comments and posts would get deleted. When emailing support to talk about concerns, they would not respond back. I’ve been an avid supporter of this platform since I discovered it. I put it at the forefront of why I’ve been recovering and rehabilitating so well over the past year of what should have been an ultimate disaster. And the big thing that has kept me going? The daily rituals. I was disheartened and extremely disappointed by the decision to discard new daily rituals - especially since that is what I thought was well worth the price of my subscription. The daily ability for this platform to connect with their users was something that made your brand stand out. I don’t mind having the occasional repeats. I understand growth. I’ve been a small business owner for a long time. But this is what it is - a plan that was not well thought out and now subscribers are suffering because of it. I’ve tried to be professional and optimistic in addressing it when I’m online in the community, and I just get more and more disappointed daily. There are so many options instead of what the company has decided to do. You could reuse rituals more than a year old. A lot of people who do the outreach for self care and utilize these types of platforms, are reaching out because of trauma. Trauma is not resolved overnight. Going further back in the library would help. Having guests record daily rituals so that Meha has the opportunity to do what she finds to be more important is another option. Directing users to a podcast associated with the monthly theme to explore a subject more in depth. Doing a new mini meditation just for the month would be helpful. But repeating content that is still fresh in the journals of your subscribers felt like a big slap in the face for a platform I’ve thought has changed my life for the better. My therapist saw such dramatic change, that she’s been recommending it to her other patients. I have friends and family members who have signed up. Clients in my business have explored and signed up. I just don’t understand why the decision was made to isolate subscribers. It’s completely changed my outlook on the community and caused me to reconsider what I once thought would be a lifetime commitment and a no worry expense, to something that I wil
I love to write, but I’ve been holding back from it for a long time now. When I signed on to Silk and Sonder and discovered that January’s focus was all about “Ambition,” I sort of froze, but I’ve been so happy to walk through the daily rituals (even though I’ve had to do more than one in a day to play “catch up”) and discover all the ways the journal can be my own. It’s a great design that leaves tons of room for creativity, and the guidance given in the rituals helps to take away the fear that you’ve got to use the journals a specific way in order to do it “right.” You are right no matter how you show up — just keep showing up. <3
