Simionic G1000 (MFD) Reviews

Good app

I like the app, no issues so far. I have one concern though, is it possible to change the location of the aircraft on the MFD ?

Hangs and Crashes Every Time

Gadget Guru on

United States

I’ve been using the Simionic G1000 MFD for a few weeks now. I’m using it standalone (no sim attached, nothing). I’m on the Apple iPad Pro 13” M4 (2024) model with 2TB capacity. While it works great for a little while (maybe 10 minutes or so), I can always count on it to freeze up. Many times, it will also crash (disappear). It is very frustrating. To be honest, I wouldn’t spend any money on this if you are contemplating buying it. The PFD is also buggy, exhibiting similar freezes and crashes. They work great until they don’t. They both freeze and crash every time. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes I can use the app a little longer before I can’t use it.

SIMIONICS G1000. PDF and MFD and NXi

I have been using SIMIONICS Flight simulator products for the last two years. This product uses Bluetooth and WiFi technology to connect to X-Plane 11,12; P3D v5, and MSFS 2020 effortlessly. I am presently Beta testing the G1000 PFD and MFD NXi that will soon be available to the flight simulation general population. I also have used FlightSimGear products which will deliver your flight simulation immersion as well. I’m just super impressed on the technology behind the SIMIONICS panel products which allows me to duplicate my lessons after I leave the airport.

May not be what you expect

Xsnell on

United States

If you are looking for integration with a flight simulator this is not what you are expecting. You can not execute a flight plan in the sim or control the sim G1000 from this app. It does not talk to x-plane other than very basic parameters such as position and engine data. If you need an app to learn the G1000 system this may be what you are looking for. Garmin makes a PC based trainer but not an iPad app.

Wanted it to see if I can use the mixture. Was a waste of time and money wish I can return it and get my money back

Very happy, but…

Bought the PFD months ago, and so happy with the results, a definetly recommended tool to improve your skills with the G1000, and become a master with thr real system while airborne.. Today I’ve bought the MFD, as I want to improve my skills on it, and also so happy once exploring all its functionalities The only problem I am having is that there is no way to pair both iPads, as despite being connected to the same local network, neither the PFD detects the MFD, nor the way round:( Any clue how to troubleshot that? Thank you!

MUST HAVE PFD???!

BrianStark88 on

United States

I don’t have the PFD app. I have a RealSimGear PFD and purchased this to use as the mfd. it won’t work without another iPad running the PFD

WASTE OF MONEY

FlightInstructing101 on

United States

This app would be ok, but unless you have two ipads and get the PFD app on one this won't move the airplane. I have bought both apps on one iPad and that won't work. The MFD is a waste of money. Plus the directions are horrible and difficult to even find.

Good app with horrible connection with PFD app

Numegil on

United States

The app itself is great, but the WiFi connection with the PFD is incredibly flaky - I frequently have to spend 5-10 minutes trying to get them to connect, usually mid-flight too.

Terrible FMS Control - You can’t scroll at all

JJCEagle on

United States

I got this device to help transition from 30 years of flying steam gauges. Most flight sims don’t include the aux menu so I bought this product to review the cockpit instrument check. The FMS “knob” is so difficult to use it’s almost useless. You need to hit the iPad screen repeatedly just to get the menu to appear, then it disappears before you have a chance to pick your selection. Is there any way to adjust how long the FMS “knob” remains active? If it was user configurable, or if you simply doubled the amount of time the knob was active, MAYBE it would be worth 4+, but as of now, it’s a solid 2.
