[How to use tune simply and accurately?]
- Enter the Tuner app.
- Click the left top button (Violin / Viola / Cello) to select your instrument.
- Click the string to be tuned.
- Play the corresponding open string.
- Check the indicator, follow the text instruction and tune the string.
Tips: If there are fine-tuning screws on your instrument, when the indicator is not close to sides (no large offset), then you can use fine-tuning to adjust the string.

The tuner can be handy: when your string is very nearly in tune in the first place! All it takes to make the instrument in tune are just a few plucks, few turns of the fine tuner and you’re set to play. Unfortunately, the tuner not very responsive to changing sound and so when you’re tuning your string for the first time, this is a VERY frustrating exercise. This is because the tuner doesn’t adjust to sound as you tune, instead it tends to jump from “very low” right to “very high”. It’s particularly bad for the lower strings.

FINALLY TUNED
I have a violin that I bought second hand that I’ve wanted to learn for years but never been able to because it was always out of tune. No amount of YouTube videos or apps have helped. After spending four hours today trying to get it tuned, I tried this app, and got it tuned within half an hour. The pegs keep slipping because of how old it is and how long it’s been out of tuned, but the more I use this to tune it, the more it settles in. Extremely helpful app for a complete beginner.
