Auto Returns Books Early

I was listening to an audio book that had 14 days left on my rental. I opened my app and the book had been returned as well as my next book in the queue.

Can’t Return Books

Lmd1982 on

United States

This app was great — but is now approaching useless. The app won’t register returned books as returned, meaning I hit the limit of books I’m allowed to have checked out through the app. When I look at my account in NYPL, it shows the books are returned. When I check the cloud library service, they’re also returned there. But the app continues to treat them as checked out. I can’t find a solution and nothing I’ve tried (including removing and redownloading the app) works. I can’t find any way to log into SimplyE from a computer, either — thinking that a browser interface might allow me to delete the books. It doesn’t seem to be possible to access through a browser. Reading reviews, it seems like this has been a known flaw for a while now. It seems that at some point soon, the books it’s failed to register as returned will reach the limit of 9 and I won’t be able to get new books at all, which is too bad because this app was helping me enjoy the New York Public Library and all it has to offer n a way I never had before.

Constant Hold Issue

JHSMaestro on

United States

I receive notifications and emails informing me that a title is ready for me to read. I attempt to download and, surprise!, the title reverts back to hold. Used to be an occasional issue now is quite frequent. I honestly should just delete app and stick to google play read.

Love the app but need a way to report an issue

jaynor88 on

I love having access to so many books but: all but 1 books in my list are frozen: I cannot download, cannot delete from list to open space for a different book. There is no way to communicate an issue so it can be resolved. Took this review opportunity to report the issue. I am thankful to have ability to download one book.

It was great until it wasn’t

Gsp333 on

I’ve used this app for a few months and had zero issues until now and I’ve really loved it. However, now it will randomly return my books that I’m in the middle of reading and have a long wait time to get again when I have plenty of time left before the book gets returned. And when a book I reserved is finally ready for me to get, it either just puts me back in the queue to reserve it or it keeps giving me a “third-party service failed” error. I tried troubleshooting and there is no mention of this error on the troubleshooting page. So now I can’t even read any book I’ve reserved and been waiting weeks/months for, but I also can’t read the ones that it randomly returned. Oh and there’s a book it won’t even allow me to download, even though I’ve had it downloaded before. It’s very disappointing because I really did love this app and I can’t use it anymore.

Fix needed

Downloads can be buggy… After downloading an audio book, it’s like super out of sync dual stereo readers. And other times, once a glitched download if attempted on a book, it’s forever cursed unless you delete Simply E and redownload the app

Terrible app

Speedy2003 on

Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow me to remove or return the audiobooks I have already listened to. I contacted the nypl and they advised me to listen to the audiobooks in the browser. Well…

Great App

Love the app for audiobooks. Would be great if it included listening history markers like in Audible.
