New update crashes the ability to view the moon properly. You didn’t think to check the moon before pushing out the update? What’s that French word? Oh yeah, amateurs.
First of all, no one loves forced app updates. I'm using the scope for the first time in a couple months, I'm out in the Maine boondocks with one bar of cellular service, and now I've got to download a 326 mb update before I can use the scope. I actually think they're worse than Apple as far as being rigid and overcontrolling with how they need to manage every aspect of the device and the app. I seriously doubt, since the scope worked perfectly well before I went to Europe for a few months, that there was anything earth shattering that absolutely had to be addressed. I'm also really annoyed that, despite pretty much everybody saying please implement landscape mode on the iPad, I'm still stuck holding it in this awkward portrait position. if I'm lucky, this app will update and I'll be able to do an observation before sunrise.
Just got my Vespera Pro and am enjoying Singularity. However it desperately needs: 1. Landscape mode - no one uses iPad in portrait mode, particularly when attached to a Magic Keyboard. This seems a massive oversight. 2. Access point - the WiFi works well, but there are times when the range is not enough (e.g., it’s on the roof and I sleep 2 stories down). Being able to connect the device to your home network would address this and also seems more secure. 3. File transfer over USB. Off loading 50Gb of FIts files over WiFi takes a long time (3hours). USB should be faster. 4. Vision Pro - why have you restricted it? Astronomy is made for Vision Pro. Not asking for anything special here, just let us use the iPad app on Vision Pro. What would be even better would be enabling the Vespera to have ASCOM compatible drivers so that it could be controlled by more advanced sequencers like NINA.
I enjoy both the automatically stacked images created by the device as well as saving each raw image and doing the alignment, stacking, and processing myself. The app is very well done, making it easy to find objects of interest and capture them.
I have owned the Stellina for a few years and love it. The app singularly works well with it and if you are a busy person and don’t have the time to set up your own astro photos, this is the way to go. I love this telescope and the app that goes with it.
The fact that landscape is not supported on iPad is a huge development oversight. Please support landscape for iPad. No one uses an iPad in portrait mode. Aside from that, the app seems smooth. Like another reviewer, I too downloaded the app in anticipation of my Vespera being delivered tomorrow. That being the case, I haven’t used it outside of signing up and a quick browse through the tabs to see what is offered. Not much going on in the app without the telescope connected, so I’ll update my review after I spend some time with it. Seriously, the app being forced into portrait mode makes me apprehensive to even open the telescope. If I have to use the app in portrait, I’m not sure I even want the hardware. Please fix this asap.
Been getting great results. Need to have planning enabled for the new scope. Also, since the scope is limited to it’s own processing, would be nice to have in-app post processing or even restacking with different settings. Would also be great to stack over different nights. Finally, pictures of the moon are horrible, not sure why, but given ten minutes for the ring nebula in light polluted sky’s, I am impressed.
I’ve not yet begun using the app as my Vespera is preordered but I decided to download the app in advance. For the most part a like it, however…. I really enjoy it more if could be used in Landscape Mode as well as Portrait. I will be controlling the Vespera with my iPad Pro and it is in a case that includes a keyboard. It is always in “Landscape” mode. Please make this an option.
Software crashes all the time. Can only get a few short images before the unit crashes and the power has to be reset. I would love to see it work seeing as though so far it’s a $4,000 paperweight without this application.
