Sinister Kettlebell Reviews

Okay, not perfect

swn1122 on

It has two timers and some counters, and keeps a bit of history. But it’s got a lot of holes: - landscape mode completely messes with the layout on my SE iphone - no haptics or dings or anything to let you know when 60s or 30s has passed - no way to distinguish 1 hand vs 2 hand swings - no integration with apple health or watch - no data export - no timer for the rest period between getups and swings It’s all so barebones that I can’t justify paying for the premium edition, which is the only way to even track weights you use.

Too many small annoyances

CamdenedmaC on

The app is okay. I want to like it, but there are too many annoyances. 1. Dark mode issues. There is no in-app way to change from light to dark mode, you have to go all the way to system settings. Additionally, you can’t see the weights in your history while in dark mode. 2. Timer annoyances. I can understand the appeal to a simple timer, but sometimes I forget to click the button at the start. Would love the ability to tack on time manually to estimate stuff that I forgot to properly tracker. 3. Weight tracking annoyances. Wish I could change the weight of lifts either during the lifting session or in the history. This is especially true when I want to try a heavier weight, but might miss it and don’t want to improperly track things. 4. Lacking reports. Would like the reports to show my progress from S to S+ in some way. Even just an average/total weight lifted for swings/TGUs would be nice. Even with all these critiques, I’m gonna keep using the app because it provides some value. It just leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Excellent App, Almost Perfect

This app is a wonderful way of tracking the simple S&S kettlebell routine. There are some minor issues that keep me from giving it a 5-star rating. - No way of differing between a 2 handed swing and a one handed swing. Not a big deal but it would be nice as the book does recommend doing 2H every few days. - The history & progress pages have a lot of info that isn’t mine. I’m curious if it’s just pulling from other workouts folks have done to fill in that day. - No way to backup the data. Such as Dropbox or other services or a local backup. Not a big deal since the main focus of the app is to track the exercise and it does that swimmingly but this would be a nice feature. Other than that it’s an awesome app and I hope it keeps being worked on. It’s very appreciated.

How to get to getups?

When I use it it just has swings. I haven’t figured out, how to get to the getups part of the workout. It only gives me options for swings.

History function doesn’t work

mik75/ on

The timers work fine. Whenever I push the “history “ button, it returns me to the iPhone homepage. I came here to see if there was a fix available. My iOS is current and I paid for the upgrade to premium.

Flawless

This app took me from the 32kg bell straight to the 48kg.

2.0 gates basic functionality behind paywall

App used to be simple, much like the workout program. Updated to 2.0 and it’s completely ruined. Uninstalling.

Simple and So So

MickTheMick on

United States

This app is good, but it really needs a timer. The end goal for S&S is to be able to complete 100 swings in 10 minutes or less, and 5 get ups in each side in 10 minutes or less. No way to track that with this app.

Love the simplicity

Would also love to push my workouts to a Google sheet. Track date, weight, reps, workout time. I’d pay for that.
