Veterans of the protocol will find many features here they are familiar with along with enhancements to reduce data use and extend battery life.
- Control multiple accounts from a single application and sign into all your XMPP accounts at once.
- Message Archive supported: Access chat history from the server.
- Support for joining and creating chatrooms for multi-party collaboration.
- Automated status management; no need to change status every time you put your phone down.
- In band registration; Sign into and create a new account on your favorite XMPP/jabber server!

Siskin IM FAQ
Is Siskin IM free?
Yes, Siskin IM is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Siskin IM legit?
🤔 The Siskin IM app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
In some sense this application deserves five stars… it is sooooo close to being perfect for my use case. It works pretty well, it looks nice enough, it’s stable, and it even supports OMEMO very well. Check, check, check!
What I currently don’t like about Siskin is the situation with push notifications. I think it’d be perfectly fine for an unencrypted chat, but it’s not very friendly with OMEMO. Because the messages are encrypted, the content of the message is not shown in the push notification… I understand why this is, but it makes the app just so much worse to use. I believe there’s a XEP for handling encrypted push notifications that could solve this issue, but as far as I know it’s just a draft and unimplemented. I can’t really demand much as it’s a free app and all, but I will say this is the last thing I really want before I’m comfortable just saying the xmpp experience on iOS is solid. I really hope Tigase can make it happen — it would be awesome.
The other nitpick I have is somewhat related to push notifications. When the app is in the background and you receive a bunch of (possibly blank notifications) when you launch the app to check your messages / reply it can take a while for it to log in and pull all of the messages from the server. Just a few seconds, but it’s a bit inconvenient at times. I’m not sure if there’s an easy fix for that, though. Maybe something can be hacked together with the push notifications, or maybe this fetch can somehow look a little smoother in the UI… I’m not too sure. This is small potatoes compared to the other issue, though.
Thanks for the great app. I really hope it just gets that last little bit of polish that will make it perfect for me so I can feel comfortable switching not just myself but also friends over to XMPP in the future.
Timer not working during voice call
Thank you for providing this program. A few points: the timer is not shown during a voice call, and the fact that the text page is very poor in terms of interface, and I think it is beautiful, similar to programs like WhatsApp.
Sends messages but does not allow account management
As a XMPP server administrator you would want your users to be able to change their passwords. This program does not appear to let them do that.
There are also glitches in the UI, like when you tap and hold a message to copy it, the screen flickers on and off.
Needs work
The app feels old and outdated and the push notifications are terrible. It does support video calls which is nice. I appreciate the dev for their time and effort in providing a free, privacy respecting app but it’s shortcomings make it a no go for daily use.
No borra el historial
Excelente, estable pero no deja borrar la conversación
Good Jabber Client
It is a good chat app, better than other xmpp clients in appstore. Data is not collected by the app.
No clear chat history button?
Overall this app works pretty well, but it’s missing a key feature of any secure messaging platform: the ability to DELETE MESSAGES. Seriously? I hope this gets fixed soon.
Font is too small
It’s a nice app but the font size is so small that it’s hard to read and any exchange longer than a few messages makes me feel like I’m getting eye strain. But the current size is the only one available.
No push notofocations
Push notifications are not working. Server side supports push notifications from other client apps fine
Currently the best XMPP client on iOS
This is currently the only actually useable XMPP OMEMO client on iOS. The only real competitor to this app on iOS would be ChatSecure. I prefer ChatSecure’s UI, but chat secure crashes too much to be usable. Siskin gets points for actually being stable and usable, which is apparently too high of a bar for most of the others to reach. Siskin at least actually works.
