킹제임스 성경은 잉글랜드와 스코틀랜드 그리고 아일랜드 왕국의 국왕 제임스 1세의 명에 의해 1604년에 번역을 시작하여 1611년 5월 1일에 출간된 영어 성경 역본이다. 초판 표지 중앙에는 “구약과 신약을 포함하는 본 성경전서는 제임스 폐하의 특별 명령에 따라 원어에서 번역하였으며 또한 이전 역본들을 부지런히 비교하고 수정하여 번역하였음. 교회에서 낭독하도록 지정받음.”이라는 문구가 들어 있다. 킹제임스 성경은 전통 히브리어 마소라 본문과 그리스어 공인 본문을 기반으로 당대 최고의 학자 50여 명이 동원되어 번역한 성경으로 1611년 출간된 이래로 전 세계에서 가장 많이 팔리고 읽히고 다른 성경의 번역 대본으로 사용된 성경이며 또한 웨스트민스터 신앙 고백, 런던 침례교 신앙 고백의 믿음 진술문과 대다수 신학교의 교리 확립에 사용된 성경이다. 킹제임스 성경이 영어에 끼친 영향은 절대적이었다. 대중들의 일상 영어 속으로 킹제임스 성경의 표현이 침투해 들어갔기에 이것은 영어권 대중의 언어와 문화를 형성하는 데 매우 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 흡사 영어를 사용하는 사람들이 모두 공유하는 일종의 DNA처럼 킹제임스 성경은 '영어권 세계의 공통 규범'이 되었다.

Missing so many critical features
I love the sleepy bookshelf, so I tried the free trial of this app for a long trip in which I needed to sleep on several airplanes. Plus hotel sleep is never good, I rely on the sleepy bookshelf in hotels for great sleep! But this app, what?? It’s so expensive and there’s no sleep timer. A paid app should basically be perfect. How can an app designed for listening for sleep not have a sleep timer? Or a queue/playlist. You can either listen to one episode, or one whole book. Why not have a queue so I can line up a few chapters of a book? Or a few random episodes? Some sound great by the description but I’m never going to choose one that’s 20 min, bc what if I’m not asleep yet? I have to turn on my bright phone and go searching for another one to listen to. Listening to chapter 2 of A Christmas carol and fall asleep? Good luck finding chapter 3, you have to type it in the search. It should just pop up as your next listen. Honestly it’s s mind boggling how user unfriendly this app is. Will not be purchasing after the trial expires.
I have no words.
This app is amazing coming from a person with insomnia. Although, the premium is quite expensive and annoying. But overall, I recommend it with all my heart. Thank you slumber. <3
