Description

Would you like to be able to guess melodies by hearing them or be able to play accompaniment to your favorite songs on the guitar or piano?

Ear training is the perfect app for you! This app will help you develop perfect pitch, and train your ear to recognize notes and chords in any key.

The app consists of a series of exercises, which will gradually introduce you to all the notes and chords in the major and minor scales. You can also practice identifying intervals and chord progressions.

Each exercise is accompanied by a clear and concise explanation, so you can understand the theory behind it. And if you get stuck, the app includes a handy hint function.

The exercises are tailored to help you improve your aural skills, so you can develop at your own pace. You can also choose to practice in a particular key, or with a particular instrument.

Best ear trainer on the market

Miller Hearn on

I tested a few ear training apps and this was by far my favourite and the easiest to use. I would like an option to remove ads for a couple dollars

Best free functional ear trainer

**DGT** on

If you are looking for the best free functional/ contextual/ tonal/ scale degree trainer, then this is it. It is very easy to use. It enables the user to select more than one scale degree to be included in each test (1 to 4). This is like ‘interval training’, but within a tonal context. It is easy to select a key (including modes and ‘random’). It is easy to select a range: ‘Low’, ‘Medium’ or ‘High’ (or 2 or 3 of them). The choice of the scale degrees to be included in each test is either ‘1,2,3,4’ or ‘5,6,7,1’ (or both). The exercises in the rest of the trainer are also good and easy to use, though the ‘chord progressions’ exercise is limited to major key progressions (with triads, 7ths and inversions). There are 9 instrument sounds - the piano sound is relatively good. There is a large choice for how notes are to be described, e.g. A,B(H),C; do,re,mi - in many languages. The vocal instructions at the start of each type of exercise are brief, but are spoken in monotone.
