SME Spot Shot

Not only is it inexcusable that you have to allow this app to have access to your location, but it doesn’t even try to connect. The WiFi network this thing creates does not correspond to the one the app is looking for so even if your phone is connected to the spot shot the app won’t connect because the app doesn’t see it. Great idea of a product but terrible implementation.

Mediocre fps, and clarity. The watermarks and “location tracking” are silly and add to my thoughts that this is more a gadget than a serious tool for spotters. It is nice that you have some range to remote view an area while behind a gun, you can set a spotter wide and see an overview while zoomed in on your rifle. The clarity is an issue, you definitely will have issues seeing bullet holes (as the equipment is marketed) at any significant range even with great glass, the resolution is tech of yesteryear and looks like less than 780p

I bought the SME Spot Shot and got it set up on my phone with iOS 14.? And it worked just fine. Then after updating to 15.3 the app won’t open. I never even got to try it out on my spotting scope. :(

The app will not show any video stream or image, I’ve connected to the spot shot wifi and select proceed but all I get is a grey screen where the live feed should be. Defeats the purpose of it if I can’t see anything on my phone.

The app isn’t working after upgrade to IOS 15 on an iPhone 13. I can get to the web interface, but it’s locked down and tells me to use the app which isn’t detecting the camera wifi.

Product cannot connect to any WiFi networks, rendering product useless. What a shame.

Requiring a watermark and location enabled is a ridiculous requirement to force your customer to deal with.

The app will not function unless you allow it to access your location. There is no reason for an app such as this to access location data in order for it to function properly ... this is just another personal data grab. Will be returning the Spot Shot scope camera.

Everything is very simple to use on this app. Has ran great and have had no issues. I do wish you were able to zoom in on your phone without having to save a picture first. I use this with a Razor HD 11-33x spotting scope.
