The Snikket app allows you to join a worldwide communication network. Use the app for communicating with friends, family and colleagues without surrendering your data to large corporations.
Important Note: To get started with the app you need an invite to a Snikket service, or run your own. The app will not work unless you have an invite to join a Snikket service.
Snikket allows you to use a service provided by someone you trust. This could be an organisation, simply a techie friend or family member.
Snikket is 100% free and open-source software.

The Snikket service is nice and lightweight on my server and easy enough to setup. The client is Spartan but straightforward. Would be nice to see a few extra touches like GIF keyboard or stickers although I must say I’m ignorant about the feasibility of this on XMPP. Keep up the good work!

There are so many issues I have with this and the notifications are buggy and the app is slow.

Unread messages and missed calls

Would be nice if it were more obvious which messages haven’t been opened yet. Also, there doesn’t seem to be any indication when you’ve missed a call.
