Solis Thermo Reviews

Drains battery all day long

JauDesign on

Check your battery activity. This app drains it all day under no usage at all!

Garbage app

Eggs, scrambled on

United States

It’s ok for l reading the current temperature. If you’re trying to track a long bbq or smoke it’s totally worthless. It’ll lose connection every few hours and completely resets the temperature tracking. The plots themselves are complete garbage, they don’t scale right and you can’t adjust them in any way. Even the presentation is barely readable. I don’t get it, an off the shelf open source plot library would do an infinitely better job. It feels like some kid just slapped a school assignment together at the last minute to try to get some credit.

App is better than the probes

Smalps on

United States

The app does pretty much everything you need it to. The communication with the base unit is spot on. My only real complaint is that the probes tend to fail, but that, of course, has nothing to do with the app. You know what would be great? A watch app. Simple thing that shows the temperature and maybe has a button to silence alarms.

Disappointing App

OutlawSapper on

United States

Despite producing a quality thermometer, the app is truly terrible. It crashes frequently, which makes the duration temperature charts, temperature threshold settings, and alarms pointless as it resets every time the app closes. Worse of all it causes the transmitter to beep because it “losses” the connection.

Leaves a lot to be desired; developers uninterested in feedback

TrogdorBurninatorr on

United States

The app is OK, but there are many minor and incremental improvements that could be made if the developers were willing to listen to feedback from users. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. As a starting point, the temperature graph is worthless.

New update

Kar Detective on

United States

I’ve had this unit for a couple years now. It is work great and I use it every other week or so. About a week ago they must’ve been an automatic update that got put in. Now there’s a three screen information sheet on how to use the tool or the app. And on top of that, I lose my presets every time I lose connection with my device. This has been very frustrating as I have to reset my presets every single time I lose connection which is quite often as I wander through the house and then back outside to check the temperatures. I’m hoping they can fix us quickly.

Useless thermometer

Whysjamescryin on

United States

Bought this blue tooth thermometer thinking it would be the last one I would need. Unfortunately it only worked for about eight or ten cooks and then the temp reading shot up to 574 degrees. Cleaned it and changed batteries with no change. Called customer service and emailed and never got to speak with anyone. Never received a call back or email. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Love the hardware; App not so much

tnBBQer on

United States

Hardware is good. Probes are good. Love the silicon ends. Sending unit is good and the magnet works good. Bluetooth is strong. App not as good. The alarm volume is crazy loud. Would be nice if there was a control for the volume. My electric smoker fluctuates about 20deg. Would be nice to be able to see the peak and valley temps. When you’re plugged in to port 6 but the other ports aren’t used why do I have to scroll through all the graphs. Sometimes it disconnects and you lose your graph. It would be cool to project the target temp time. I know this is complex but maybe use the last hours climb rate to forecast. Would like to be able to adjust the target meat temp a few degrees wo losing the graph. I’ll say this is way better than my other wireless probe but it could be so much better.

Great Thermo - gaps in the app!

Ridge00 on

United States

Love the thermometer, but the app only graphs one probe’s temperature, and the history never goes back more than 30 minutes. The app is great for grilling, but get a different device if you want to use it for smoking.

Works but a few issues

Hananiel on

United States

First is range. If the smoker is outside you are inside and about 30-40 feet loses connection. Second is the app. After two hours it clears your data so you can’t see a beautiful chart for all your smoke/cook. Third after about a couple of years the probes started to fail. So it’s ok. Not great.
