Good ideas, great UI, buggy performance

Mulciber on

Sweden

I really would like to love this app. It is a great idea, and add lots of value over the stock music app, but alas, it is buggy. Very buggy at times. I understand that a single developer struggles to keep the app at top notch performance, but at the moment it is so buggy it is so limited that I really can't use it. When this app is more stable, I'm more than happy to give it a five star review, but at the moment it is just barely three stars. I am looking forward to see what will happen to the app and the developer. If I was Apple, I would buy this and give it the developmental muscles it deserves.

Fantastic except…

Honestly really happy with this app so far, the only issue I have had so far is with the lyrics. (Only tried on iPhone 15 Pro so far) The Good: - MAGIC MIX is absolutely awesome! Finally something that resembles smart playlists! - The way the queue works is great. I love not having to fumble through a menu while I’m driving. - Adding to playlists so is much easier. - You can flip through the Coverflow view without skipping the current song! But if you do want to change songs the play button is right on the album art. - Pull to reach is taking a bit to get used to but I’m really starting to like it. There is a con about it too see below. - Changing default sort order by view, love having most recent playlists at the top. Most played songs on top. But I can still show artists in alphabetical order. The Bad: - There’s no way to set lyrics as the default view in the player. - The small single line of lyrics under the song title is cool, but I’d much rather have the option to make it bigger and move it. There a ton of empty space between the player controls and the volume slider, move the controls down a bit, make the lyrics bigger and put them just below the album art. - The sing along lyrics are a pain to access. You have to open the insight menu, tap the button, then tap Musixmatch from the share sheet. - There’s a setting to enable/disable a lyrics button…I don’t see said button anywhere. - Why no animated album art? - No audio quality selection, at least not that I can find. - What does Live Activity actually do? No matter if it’s on or off I notice no difference. - Pull to Reach should be customizable. Pull to search I will be using every day. But pull for settings or notifications? I will literally never use that. And when it’s hit by accident it’ll just be frustrating. There’s a ton of potential here, and it’s definitely better than any other iOS app I have tried for Apple Music. But there are definitely some things missing compared to some of the desktop apps like Cider.

Great third party UI for Apple Music

Charlie Glass on

I really love the design of the app and the magic mix feature, which allows you to create custom playlists. The only feature that appears to be missing is autoplay. You have to use the native Apple Music app to enable autoplay. Pleaseeee add autoplay. Thanks for the great app!

Abandoned

Heftybags on

This app hasn’t been updated in over a year and in that time we had a whole new version of iOS plus several major updates which include significant updates and changes to Apple Music and with Soor not being update along side IOS and Apple Music means that this app no longer functions properly or interacts with Apple Music as it should. If someone still wants an alternative to Apple Music I would recommend Marvis. Unlike the Soor developers Marvis continues to respect his customers by communicating and keeping the product that his customers paid for up to date and working correctly.

Beautiful but useless (DONT BUY)

AlanDurazo on

This app is a beautiful take on the Apple Music app but it is utterly useless it crashes constantly the UI bugs out all the time and it incredibly infuriating. It crashes for no reason.

Innovative and Intuitive

Tethys-Sea on

As it says on the tin: Simply a beautiful music player, with functions that are not only innovative and smart, but, GASP, intuitive! I don’t understand why Apple Music doesn’t have the kind of facility ans ease of use this app does, but I am grateful that someone out there has created a modern music player that makes sense. There’s a couple more alternative players pushing the envelope, but Soor is a favorite and the ONLY one of its kind that has figured out how to design one-handed navigation. Apple would do well to hire and consult with this developer.

This is what a Music app ought to be.

Skylar C. on

Soor is such an impressive take on an iPhone music player, with some truly innovative ideas in navigation and UI. Apple, please take notice because this little developer blew your Music app away.
