Kharé is brimming with things to do and creatures to meet. Visit the Festival of Thieves, battle a ghost, escape from slavers, gamble your fortune at the Halls of Vlada, drink at the tavern, worship strange Gods, and much much more. Will you uncover the secrets of the city, overthrow the Council, destroy an invading army, or leave Kharé to burn?
From legendary designer Steve Jackson, co-founder of Lionhead Studios (with Peter Molyneux), and Fighting Fantasy and Games Workshop (with Ian Livingstone), and designed and adapted by inkle, the app uses inklewriter technology to tell your journey in real-time, shaping the story around your choices. The text itself changes based on how you play and what you do. In combat, the action is described on the fly based on how you play.
Featuring original illustrations by John Blanche and maps by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast).
"Kharé: Cityport of Traps" is Part 2 of 4. Part 1 is out now and Part 3, "The Seven Serpents", is coming later this year. (But while you wait, check out our new game, 80 DAYS.)

My Top Favorite Game

I am a magick fan and strategy lover. Not to mention when you give me a game that is good and well made. It will be an instant legend and always be played. More than likely you could play this game ten times over and not see the same thing twice. It’s a very thought immersing, sophisticated, well put together and designed strategy game. The story, characters, lore, the items even are memorable, and the places you have traveled definitely will give you either fond memories or bad memories. Those memories and feelings can change quickly for one event that was previously not explored, or even a spell, or a different conversation can and will result in different reactions. I have so far, gotten through Sorcery One and half through Sorcery two, I did try Sorcery three and stopped to finish the second. I can’t wait to finish them all and play again. You do not need thought provoking applications or memories and brain enhancing apps. Strategy, euphoria, thinking five, six and sometimes well ahead, while being mindful to a common person and just as cautious with what appears benign, but being open to take risks progress you in so many facets and ways in your mind and the game. It is in many senses, almost a game that can be utilized as a very seldom life experience for real life. Always be careful in all situations but live your life and have fun always while listening to all your senses and feelings. Your mind is the present, logic, and memories or reason. Your heart is what guides you and the present moment to always be aware of and follow. Your gut is instinct and the future. Always remember that and it will be understood in time to know if your heart and mind are being tricked by something you can’t see if your gut is telling you no. Or if your gut says yes and your heart is weary is only telling you to proceed guarded but with courage. Always rationalize and never listen to anything but your internal voice. If it doesn’t feel right. It’s not. I guess I’ve been playing this game too much. Well. Back to it. Thank you!!!!

Game is great. Or Better to say, story is. Not updated for newer devices. No iCloud backup sync support. Can’t play between devices.

Illogical, awkward, and too linear

albinowookie2 on

Based on the great reviews I read, I was really excited to play this game. However, after about 5 hours of playing, I’m perplexed why people rate this game so highly. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the consequences of your actions (sometimes you make a seemingly logical choice and you die; others times you pick something whimsical and get rewarded with treasure). The spell book mechanics are awkward, forcing you to flip back and forth between menus to try to figure out which spell might help in a given situation. And the storyline is a bit too linear for my taste, not allowing you to go back and explore areas you have previously been too. Thank god I bought this game a couple years after it’s release, so I only wasted $5 on it. Avoid at all costs.

Major step backwards from the first installment

In the first installment, I felt as though I was really choosing my own adventure — there were so many things I knew I was missing as I blundered my way through which really made the game feel magical and unique, and made me want to replay it to see what I’d missed. In this one, you have to wander aimlessly through a city, covering every inching and getting thrown backwards or killed at any “wrong” step. You’re forced to collect 4 spell lines, ensuring that you experience the exact same things every time. I felt as though I was being railroaded by a storyteller who insisted on me playing through one particular story. What’s the point of a “choose your adventure” that forces you to choose the one right path?

Exceptional

I went over the four apps in my review of the first book, I’ll just add a few things. Again Inkle has enhanced an old, classic gamebook and created a fantastic game. This second volume is far superior to the first one—it takes a long time to understand what’s going on, to gather all the clues that you need to succeed, although it is also the continuation of the previous volume. It can seem sometimes it will be difficult to finish it but it is never impossible, and the rich universe that lies behind the story is full of mysteries and twists and keeps you involved. A must-have.

Awesome.

I thought the first chapter was kind of short (finished in a day), but this one kept me entertained for at least a week. There's a specific objective in this one which is more challenging than the straight-forward journey of the first chapter, and this one also introduces a neat mini game that will keep you occupied for a while

Fantastic

One of the few mobile adventure games I've played and couldn't put down. Rich lore, strong writing, and some smart elements of game design make for one amazing ride. Highly recommended.

I love that they give you the choice to continue the story or end it at the end.
