SoundPrint, Find A Quiet Place

The user interface doesn’t fit the screen of my iPhone 8. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. I’ve deleted the app. Not much of a problem, though, because the app hasn’t caught on in Portland, Or.

Fantastic app. Decibel meter functionality is super intuitive and search is also very user friendly. Hope more users will contribute data as we need more sound level data everywhere! Kudos to this brilliant developer and team

SoundPrint is a fantastic go to source for a very important aspect of a wonderful guest experience. As an experienced hotel concierge I have learned that A list guests depend on my advice to match restaurant and other venues to the experience that will result in a great emotional stay. The sound level of a venue is an important aspect of a venue and SoundPrint is a great way to make a great match. Because I believe in giving back, SoundPrint also enables me to easily contribute to this valuable resource!

There is no access to microphone for this app in settings. Worked in previous IOS. But not on 15

I cannot access my submissions nor submit my findings. Please fix your server. It worked great before today.

Love being able to check sound level and know that I’m not crazy, some places are objectively too loud! I just wish more people would use it, and use it often. With a larger data set, you might be able to tell which nights are “quiet” at noisy restaurants, etc… and / or some places might realize that their literally dangerous noise levels are actually costing them customers.

I have mild hearing loss in addition to Auditory Processing Disorder, meaning it can be incredibly difficult for me to comprehend speech in noisy environments. Soundprint has been an awesome resource for scoping out quieter restaurants and venues for activities that I know will involve a lot of chatting! I also love that it’s user-sourced, as I feel I can actively contribute to help others in my community who may deal with the same challenges. I’ve gotten two of my hearing friends to download it and contribute as well, and I hope others will spread it as well! The more the merrier.

Simple to use, and provides clear results. Doesn’t have annoying advertisements like other apps. I’m curious, does it use dB SPL, dB HL or dB SL?

The idea behind this app is an excellent one, but it simply doesn’t work. Either it’s programmed to ignore human voice frequencies, or smartphone microphones can’t do the job. SoundPrint consistently “measured” a man yelling at the top of his lungs into a loudspeaker as quieter than an air conditioner. It repeatedly told me that the inaudible click of my home button was TWICE as loud as the man yelling into the loudspeaker! It’s clearly drastically off and miscalibrated, to the point of uselessness. I also can’t submit a sound check or even stop recording. Once I start recording the app just gets stuck in a loop. Even reporting the bugs to the app developer is impossible because it thinks I have not “purchased “ the app. I don’t expect miracles from a free app, but I expect SOME functionality.

I go to a restaurant to have conversations with people. This app is terrific in terms of eliminating restaurants where the noise from music and background noises make it impossible. Love it. Wish more people would do sound checks.
