Sounds in Words Reviews

It’s fixed now but has errors

I love this idea, and the update made it work, thank you! Unfortunately there are errors. For example the “y” in authority and baby both are set to be pronounced as “uh” when in fact they are pronounced as the long e sound, just as the e sounds in bee say together. If someone is using this app to learn how to pronounce words, they are going to learn how to say many words incorrectly, because I am sure there are many examples! Another issue is often when the word is pronounced rapidly as in normal speech, it will sound very different than when it is chopped apart into little chunks of speech. We have a flapping rule where when a t is often pronounced as closer to a d sound. So as an example, the word “automatic” in normal speech will often be pronounced as if it t sounds were d sounds. Adding a button at the top of each entry to hear the word alone, and in a sentence, would be very helpful for English language learners.
