Description

SoundScaper is an experimental sound mini lab for creating unusual soundscapes, atmospheric textures, drones, glitches and noises based on circuit bending principles.
With this application you can easily experiment with creating new and unusual sounds from ordinary samples. For sound designers and those interested in creating ambient or experimental electronic music, with filtering and mixing of up to three oscillators, you can create excellent soundscapes, textures and drones for your music or for movie soundtrack or entertainment apps and games. With complete MIDI control this application is very comfortable and powerful instrument to use for real-time sound creation and live improvisation.
The oscillators, based on simulating schematics of actual 8 bit lofi sound playback chips, have circuit bending like controls that are ideal for making glitches, noises, crackles and granular sounds. Combined with the filtering and spatial mixing options, you can expand these sounds to deep and atmospheric textures. Finally you can add motion and continuous changes to your sounds via low frequency oscillators which can control the filter and mixer parameters.
The "Morphing scene" option gives you ability of smooth switching between scenes, applying multifunctional filters and changing oscillators parameters during morphing process. Using these features you can add a new dimension to the existing scenes varying them in the real time.
What's inside:
- Three sample-based oscillators with control based on circuit bending principles.
- Three Low / High / Band - pass filters and two range delay for each oscillator.
- Spatial mixer / reverb with side and distance for each sound source.
- Three low frequency oscillators for automation mixer and filters.
- Possibility of generating parameters for each oscillator automatically.
- Scenes for storing all parameters of oscillators, filters and mixer.
- Morphing with smooth switching between scenes and additional effects in real-time.
- Built-in library of natural samples grouped by categories.
- Set of ready-to-use presets for oscillators.
Additional features:
- Advanced control panel for all faders and rotary knobs with large controls.
- Individual equalizer and reverb options for each sound source in the spatial mixer.
- Complete MIDI control for all faders, knobs and most other elements.
- Uploading samples through Dropbox, Web access, clipboard and from other apps.
- Different color schemes available for the user interface.
- Detailed application description (also in signle PDF on application site).
- Supports Audiobus 3 with "State Saving" and MIDI features.
- Inter-App audio compatible.

SoundScaper Reviews

Extremely cool and powerful once you UNDERSTAND it

It’s esoteric in design and you will need to understand how it works. At first it’s like “does this just make wind sounds?” No, load up the various demos and learn how to use it. I am using this to generate wild background sounds for my electronic music project. It’s like it was tailor made to do that, and in a way it’s genius. If you’re not going to learn it, don’t get it.

Mind Blowing!!

The amount of things one can do with this app will twist your brain! Super powerful, super complex at times! However deep one wants to dig and explore is only limited by ones own creativity. I still haven’t master this app, but it is so much fun and twisted! I own FieldScaper as well! This developer has put out some top notch stuff!!

Entertaining, inspirational, intelligent and challenging!

I won’t say this app is perfect or even comprehensible for everyone, however if you do read the manual the developer included in the app, and use it to experiment and learn what this app is truly capable of doing to both short/simple sounds and long/complex recordings or ambient mixes, you will be endlessly entertained, thoroughly surprised, and possibly (like me) inspired by multiple idea types. This is a very in-depth sound editor, which introduces users to sequences run by algorithms that control or filter audio output. Got me learning about circuit-bending and binary code, but as someone who admires patterns and textures in general regardless, I have fun whether goal oriented or not every time I open this app. I would only love to see AUv3 be supported in the future, but the app runs well through AUM as IAA so the main difference would just be convenience. I can’t think of another app that I’m so quick to pause my music for in order to use. {5 Stars, suggested: AUv3, easier sample import, custom theme color panel, clearer button labels} By the way these are simply ideas, not complaints. Get this app.

what is so hard about adding simple add and delete functions to individual sounds?

Still incredible sound tapestry machine!

Still nothing on the App Store that compares with the sound tapestries and FX you can make with SoundScaper! And it always has been a stable design too.

Wow!

Must Have

The possibilities with this app seem endless. I've tried dozens and dozens of sound makers, synths, sequencers, etc - they all felt like variations on the same set of features. This is the first app I've tried that really made new sounds in new ways. Always surprising, amazing depth.

Sweet

Been waiting to play with this and it's very very cool. The only thing that can make this better is a little internal sampling utility to capture sounds right in instead of importing. Great Software!! Buy it.

Great app

It's audiobus compatible . It's a great app for making interesting sonic landscapes . You can import a audio sample and then manipulated it into something amazing . Or twist knobs on the presets and also make amazing soundscapes . Thesoundtestroom on YouTube has a great review of this app !i
