South of the Circle Reviews
Excellent but only worth 3 stars!
Excellent game, beautifully crafted but disappointingly too short. The ending is quite the anti climax. I was left thinking, “ Is that it!!?” There were times when there is far too much dialogue and very little to do! Shame really because the concept had potential but potential unfulfilled!
Empowering, beautiful, compelling and quite jaw-dropping
The game speaks for itself, it’s wonderful abstract graphics and design, compelling hearththrobbing, action packed storyline is just beautiful. Just wonderful.
I love this
It’s a bit sad, but in the end it an absolute mind-gripping story it’s really good and I highly recommend playing it!
Exceptional Emotional and An Outstanding plot!
WELL I SUMMED IT UP ⬆️ FOR THE MOST PART BUT WILL ADD A LITTLE BIT MORE. HATE THE MAJORITY OF APPS IF NOT ALL. THEY ARE ALL VERY TODDLER BASED AND SO EASY ON THE BRAIN IT REALLY SHOULD BREAK THE REALITY OF OUR GENERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE. AS IF WE ALL HAVE DEMENTIA OR JUST LIKE 3 WAYS TO MATCH OR PLAY WITH POTATO HEADS. WONDER WHY HARVARD HAS SUCH SAFE SPACE U CANNOT ESCAPE COLORING OR YOUR 911 NU. ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD. SORRY BUT THAT MADE AN ACCIDENTAL DOWNLOAD A LIFE-CHANGER FOR A GRANDCHILD AND A BIT OF EMOTIONAL OUTBURST BY LITTLE OLD ME. WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE A BIT OF AN HOUR AND A HALF BUT U TAKE WHAT YOU CAN GET. THANK GOODNESS FOR SOME CONTENT WITH BIG BIRD POP UPS AND ANOTHER TEMPLE RUN. MUCH APPRECIATED AND PLEASE PLEASE LETS NOT OUTLAW TODDLER GAMES BUT LETS NOT FORGET WE ARE GROWN UPS AND WE ALL NEED TO GROW UP AND SURPRISE OURSELVES WITH A LITTLE I FOUND A MATCH TO LIGHT THE STOVE BLUE.
Wanted more
This game was one of the most beautiful animations i’ve seen and very well done!
I loved this story but the ending felt so abrupt, i wish there was more development about Clara and Peter. We never found out more and what some of peter’s decisions were. I just felt very unfulfilled with the ending and after spending so much time on this game it was a little disappointing.
A hugely underrated title!
This game took me completely by surprise. It has a minimalist art style I wasn’t sure I’d be into, but it’s actually used it in a really intriguing way. The camera acts like a cinematic viewpoint at times, which works really well for a narrative title. So many story-based mobile games are 2D, so it was nice to play an immersive 3rd person adventure game.
I think the most impressive part of South of the Circle is the writing and voice acting. I start lots of narrative games but quickly give up because the performances are weak and/cringy. This game was voiced sincerely and never veered into cheesy overacting territory. And then there’s the music! It REALLY contributes to the mood. So well done!
If there’s complaints to be had, I’d say it’s the story that keeps this from becoming a masterpiece. It’s incredibly engaging for the majority of the game but kind of falls apart at the end. However, this doesn’t detract from the overall experience. If you like narrative games, this is my favorite one on mobile so far!
just a question
can you make this this game apple arcade?
More of a movie than a game, worth the money imo
If you’re looking for an action game then this won’t be for you. While it may feel a bit boring and frustrating at times not being able to control the main character (Peter), this is one of the best stories to a game I’ve ever played. It’s short and only took about 2-3 hours to finish so it’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of free time on your hands. I’d highly recommend this to anyone for its theme, artwork and plot.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD PROCEED WITH CAUTION:
All I wanted to add here was that the story does have a sad ending so just be aware that none of the actions you choose in the game really have an impact on the story. If you need further explanation on this there’s a good Reddit post that explains the meaning of the story pretty well
Love the game
Love the game, except it keeps telling me it doesn’t support my handheld controller though on the purchase page it says it does.
Very Bad - Not a Game
This is a not-very-good animated movie which a “player” is supposed to click on the screen to advance the story.
Dull and unbelievable; 4 hours and 4 dollars wasted.
If these developers want to make a movie, then they should try that, but this is no movie AND no game.
Voice acting is quite good, but the characters and plot will leave you cold- pun intended.
